Mediterranean just refers to a general type for peoples with largely shared history (eg Southern France and Italy) but it doesn't mean say Greeks, Levantines and Iberians are a single people despite some exchanges.

Thanks for the reponse bro but that doesn't seem like a plausible theory, skin color selects in function to sun exposure which wouldn't have varied all that much with weather and would still not explain the mutations that cause light colored hair and eyes, blue eyes did originally evolve in central Asia, far from the Baltic, and blonde hair also evolved amongst Melanesians who are as dark as sub Saharan Africans. You'll also notice the inuit, the human group better adapated to living in the northernmost conditions, do not have blonde hair or light colored eyes. In fact blue eyes would probably be detrimental to peoples living in conditions where they're frequently exposed to snow glare, which I've heard some argue was the original reason for the evolution of epicanthic folds in East Asians.

I know not all white peoples in the levant are descended from crusaders and the Mediterranean has historically been a causeways for many different peoples so migrations of smaller groups might better explain it. There were a significant number of Europeans taken by North African raiders during the middle ages as well, although I doubt these alone would explain light colored hair/eyes in Berbers.
