So like as a kid, my brother, myself, and the other neighborhood kids would play in this creek that ran everywhere behind the houses. Eventually we started getting territorial and started making countries and trade deals and yada yada. And as the elder son, it was my responsibility to decide our country's name.
As a regular little American shit, I was also going though the phase of exploring my ethnic backgrounds, so I wanted to make the name mean something in a foreign language. Since we had a lot of trees, I used google translate to translate "Great Forest" into Irish, German, and Danish. And the result for Danish was like Store Skov or something, and I accidentally wrote down Store Stov which sounds cooler desu. So that's what I used; I still use it today for things when I need a cool sounding fake country.
