Japanese people generally dislike Koreans but not as much as Koreans dislike Japanese. By abiding by the rules here, toning down overt Korean-ness and learning to speak the language, Koreans can get by without any problems though.
Japanese are good at hiding their racism and ill feelings but after a while you start to pick up on it. The key is to be an upstanding, respectful but firm human being so that nobody can fuck you up (even if they wanted to).

I have not met any extreme rightists. I would love to however, and at least hear out their viewpoints.

I live in Tokyo.

Fukuoka has a lot of Koreans and it's 3 hours and 100 dollars by ferry from/to Busan so there are a lot of K-tourists as well. The doc sounds interesting.
It's also my favorite Japanese city. The girls are incredibly cute. Highly recommended!
