I wouldn't give it to a museum.
They'd put it in a box for ever since they have tons of the stuff. You could have someone with knowledge of nazis see if there is anything rare in case it's worth preserving.
But in general you should do whatever you feel like, just make sure you will not regret it.
This is about family so I don't think randoms online have the answers. But for what it's worth, I wouldn't judge my grandpa too harshly if he turned out to have been part of the commie secret service.
