Why do the Dutch and Belgians call this "filet américain?" It scares us.
Spooks?
>>66490059
>filet américain
>This thing comes from a french guy after an adventure in Ukraine region
>Dutch and Belgian call this "filet americain" by using french language
>>66490059
is this raw meat
dear god I would run so far away if I saw that
>>66490364
Yes. It is actually quite tasty
It tastes noice, especially a shit ton of it on a pistolet bread with pepper and sliced onions
>>66490059
>Being scared of deliciousness
I have had steak tartar. It's tasty, but I would never do ground beef tartar.
Haven't tried pork or chicken tartar yet.
>>66490059
I'd try it.
>>66491225
no it's not. it's seasoned with salt, pepper and egg yolk so it's not raw.
>>66490059
desu it's one of my favourite foods.
>>66491225
>>66491704
i mean, it's tasty as fuck, but it's not raw. thought i'd clear that up
>>66490059
we call it a tatar
>>66491704
He obviously meant it as in "the meat wasn't heated"
>>66491753
same here. well, sort of. we just call all meat or fish served this way a tartar of [insert meat/fish].
>>66491804
hmm. ok. no offense meant
>>66491832
>no offense meant
None taken, it may be because the French word for "raw" is specifically about fire/heat when talking about cooking
It can mean other things but I think "raw" has more uses in English
>>66492038
:3
i've always considered raw to be just a piece of meat/fish filet or some internal organ that is just as it is. no salt, no spice, no herbs. in estonian we have 'toores' (raw) for that kind. when it is already modified it is usually specified in the name what has been done and 'toores' is dropped from the name.
>>66491225
>raw meat
>tasty
disgusting piece of shit
>>66492496
you should try it desu
>>66492038
In English if someone says meat is raw, there is only one meaning
Here's a recipe for anyone genuinely interested.
Filet Americain
1lb of sirloin steak
4 tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon of capers
1/2 teaspoon of salt
1/2 teaspoon of black ground pepper
4 medium sized crunchy dill pickles
3 tablespoons of diced red onion
3 tablespoons of mayo
1 tablespoon of mustard (optional)
Curry, paprika, garlic etc optional
Rub the steak on both sides with the Worcestershire sauce and let it sit for a minute or two. Then cut the fat off the meat and any silver skin, chop the beef in large chunks and place it in the food processor. Add the capers, salt, black pepper, chopped pickles, onion and mayo and grind to a paste. Taste. Adjust seasonings.
Refrigerate until use. Eat within four hours of preparing. Do not keep longer than 24 hours!

Can I grill it?
>>66493834
if you wanna make a burger out of it you'd probably add those bread crumbs or something in the final mixture to make it a bit more sturdy on the grill, but essentially, yes
>>66493495
Can't you get parasites from raw meat?
>>66494146
from poor quality meat yes, don't order if you have doubt on the hygiene of the place you're eating at.
>>66494146
yolo
>>66494146
Not really if you live in a civilized country. Also yolo.
>>66494146
the sauce is based on vinegar which kills some of the bacteria
Euro food outside of Italy Spain and Portugal is shit prove me wrong you cant
>>66495898
You meat lovers should know better.
>>66493495
Well that is a lot of useless crap.
Just add salt, pepper and an an egg and you are good to go.
>>66491225
we have something quite similar. I don't how the meat is marinaded or seasoned but we have a dish raw beef with egg yolk on it.
>>66496085
>we are even better at making Pizza than Italians
>>66490059
fuck Belgians
>>66491704
>>66491751
it is for all intents and purposes "raw" as it's uncooked
>>66492496
i don't know how this isn't a thing in argieland, you have amazing meat, is the food hygeine not up to standard?
>>66490059
I bet this is fucking delicious. There's an Ethiopian beef dish called kitfo and at the restaurant I go to nearby, you can get it rare, well done, or raw, and the raw one is the best. I'm sure a European version is even better.
>>66490059
It's great, but finding high quality meat can be a pain
>>66496623
>is the food hygeine not up to standard?
I doubt that's the problem, like half of our meat comes from argentina, and we eat tartar and out local version of Mett.
>>66496623
we do have engineers too you know. we dont live in a shithole. we are used to well done meat thats all
