I read some official soviet documents about how houses must look and I literally cried.

Also half of the cities were basically destroyed in ww2 so they needed to build something fast so people can live somewhere.

You can't even imagine what kind of degradation of urban planning we had thanks to the dissolution of the Soviet Union.

Soviet urban planning was pretty nice at the time and thanks to it 60 000 000 people moved from wooden barracks to own flats. Not to mention the new neighbourhoods were green, spacious and pretty cozy. Also, russians turned pretty nice and interesting buildings of soviet modernism age to gypsy tier slums.

The real disaster is the current urban planning we have.

Hey, stalin's homes one of the best and has a much better planning then stupid concrete boxes by Nikita Khrushev era. Also pre-stalin era buildings in Constructivism and other styles look pretty good and has a lot of progressive ideas for their time. Main problem of modern look of Russkies shitholes it's liberal policy in car using in cities.

Meh, I don't remember much, it was Khrushchev's critics of some architect, he was mad that the house had too many details while it should look like plain box, beauty is for rich bourgeois faggots. There was a lot of idealogical bullshit there, but the simple reason was probably that plain boxes are cheaper.

Also after the experience of ww2 the new commieblock areas in 60s were built and planned taking into consideration the possibility of ww3 and nuclear disaster. So you can say that evil USA is the reason that commieblocks are shit. :^)
