Does new architecture lead to insane levels of butthurt in your city /int/?

Here developers could do what the fuck they wanted and now people are super aggressive towards everything they build. Sometimes it's good sometimes it does quite a lot of bad things.

Tell me how new controversial buildings are received in your city.

also pls rate this thing I'm curious how you guys see it.

modern Bulgarian architecture
>>
>>66295544
at least it's in the suburbs where it can do barely any harm
>>
Leftists and hippies get angry. It's kind of funny, Canada is not an old country and we don't really have classic architecture.

Well I can't speak for all of Poland but here the level of butthurt is dangerously insane.
>>
>>66295433
Yes, modernist glass and steel jewry is always a controversial thing. At first people are like "oh look how cool and futuristic" but then they are like "wtf this shit's ugly".

>>66295604
Shouldn't they embrace it considering how it smashes cis white traditionalist world views?

Well it's often very randomly placed as well and the height differences can be a joke.

As a example I give yo uthis:

a meeting in old barracs about their use(just their use spawned so much butthurt it's takins 3 years now to srart sorting them out like the 1st part), those people meet and yell, argue, cry, despair over others people opinions on the USE of semi ruins(how they are ment to look is sorted).

Liberals tend to live in downtown cores and I think the main reason they protest new development is because they don't want to deal with construction in their neighborhood desu. They don't like suburban sprawl because it's environmentally unfriendly but try to build a high-density apartment tower in a downtown neighborhood and all hell breaks loose

My city has a 180k population and is a overall ~ 320-350k angomeration wit ha old city center, by no means a city as big as Sofia, yet they want to shit on it with modern architecture that is just too big for a medium sized city like mine.

But I always only heard inside opinions, that's why I started to wonder if it's the same everywhere and if people from other countries got a different opinion.

What has happened to Polish cities during and after WW2 is a tragedy...
>>
>>66296182
imo, everything is better than gommieblocks.
the good thing in Sofia is, that they build all those modern buildigns in the outskirts and not downtown itself so it doesnt fuck up with the good looking old architecture in the downtown, while it balances the ugly-ass gommieblocks in the outskirts

but if they place them in comfy looking town like yours, right next to good old architecture, it would be disgusting

Usually any modern project gets shunned by the old farts in the council, even if it's a good looking one that replaces an ugly concrete slab from the 60's. Thing is they hate change, even if it's for the better.
I guess there's some sentimental value attached to the Corbusier their generation grew up with. If you want a project approved as an architect, have it look as plain and outdated as possible, preferably with minimal detail, if any.
>>
not a native but the town I live in they refuse to build anything new and instead choose to perserve really ugly buildings from the 70s no one likes

The problem is people in non-capital cities, like mine, ten to have this hillbily mindset that you need to build tall things(or modern crap) or else you're a shithole. No matter that if we build lower it looks better and fits, it needs to be taller because we're a regional center and talk buildings make you cool.
I fucking hate it.

Oh yes, the sandcrawler, it's been posted before. It's not bad really.

We are eclectic and experimental when it comes to architecture so people tend to be tolerant, Mexico City is a collection of hits and misses although aesthetics aside it's generally comfy, functional.

We do preserve a lot of colonial towns and most cities will do the same for downtowns in that style so we do have a core of beautiful, functional architecture.

Pictured is a good example of a building some may hate and some may love but it's actually an objectively great interior.

This is a example of building that fits.

It's not spectacular but it fits, it's the same size as the old buildings and it dosn't make them look out of place.

Yes, the Nobel Center

The thing is not built yet, and it have even been criticized by our king

Why can't they actually fill in the gaps and rebuild the city centers how they used to look before WW2 and build those newer ones outside them?

Well some of the buildings were ok pre ww2 but some weren't and there's not a lot of docummentation left since it's burned, it's mostly postcards and pictures.

Plus finding a developer who wants to build new things that look like pre w2 is hard, we renew what we got one by one though.

>>66297580
I have never been to Manhatten, but if plenty of buildings look like that white one, then yes.

That should be enough.

If the city councils actually made coherent city development plans and put restrictions on developers, especially in the city centers, things could be different.
>>
>>66298937
Well city development plans are always problematic due to city council members often being utter retards. Here they're doing it neighbourhood after neighbourhood.

Also a thing like perpetual usufruct takes time to combat. Uite a few of those have been given in the commie times and now the city is fighting awful people who got it by financial pentalties for not sorting the property out according to it's purpose.

I know it might sound kinda pathetic but it's all sins of war and communism still dragging a lot of things down even if good people try to combat them.
