Not trying to encourage you to accept the offer, but I think I came across the wrong way. When I said "comfortably" I meant very comfortably, as in if you were renting and living alone you would have tonnes of spending money and would live very well. If you had a partner earning an even half-decent income, you would be living even better. Take out a mortgage, though, and you would still be living comfortably, but you'd have to cut out a lot of your spending, especially if you lived in city. If you then had kids on top of that, you would then probably be living "meh".
