I recently read 'the brothers karamazov' by dostoevsky

It was excellent.
Bravo Russia.
>>
>>66188251
stupid questions like that is why
>>
>>66187901
I've read some barebone basics, Tolstoy, Dostoievsky, Pushkin, Gorky, Gogol,. we used to get a lot of translations of Soviet textbooks, via Cuba I imagine, when I was growing up, mostly Marxist propaganda, some science classics like Oparin's The Origin of Life but also fun divulgation stuff for kids on topics like dinosaurs or the tundra, I really did enjoy those.

On school you would have skipped all of these of course, you would have had to read a couple a couple of classics in the high school I attended, say Ana Karenina and the Brothers Karamazov, but most public school curriculums tend to be less demanding so you'd probably be down to a couple of tales or extracts in a world literature course.

Personally I love it, both the romantic era with all of it's folklore and mujiks and the socialist realism which tended to be about as romanticized and sentimental, I must admit I haven't read anything contemporary.

Dostoievsky makes it into my personal top ten all time best writers.
>>
Sure right now I am reading "cancer ward"

I've read several books from Lenin.

All of them were in Korean, so I don't know how it'll feel like in Russian

I won't spoil anything for you. I love it. Funny, touching, etc.
>>
>>66188582

Nigga If you want entertainment go read cartoons. If you expect entertainment from literature you are doing something wrong. Literature was never meant to be entertaining. Wtf?

>>66188599

War and Peace is shit but he has dope books. If I were pretentious I would choose an obscure shitty Russian novelist to seem hip tho.

Also I reported you to authorities for spreading Russian culture instead of Lukashenko's Belarus.

>>66188606

It is a shit board.

>>66188622

Movies maybe but video games, no.

>>66188626

Are you North Korean?

>>
>>66188703

Idiot what I mean is there is nothing entertaining about literature. It is mostly a grimy business without promises of fun.

What kind of an idiot read 1000 pages depressing novel expecting entertainment from it?
>>
Dead Souls and some other Ruski stuff is a mandatory read in school.
I didn't read it though, I rather read modern fantasy than random 'literature' from different points of time.
>>
>>66188734
What's your problem? Omon Ra is funny and presents itself in an original way, even if its underlying message isn't so original.
>>
>>66188693
Stalin was not a good person
>>
>>66188769
>What kind of an idiot scrolls 1000 posts on /int/ expecting entertainment from it?
>>
>>66188769
It is entertainment. Wtf. Drama films, horror video games are not entertainment too?
>>
>>66188673
>Are you North Korean?
Lol no.
Lots of communist literatures are banned in NK, including Das Kapital.

Lenin was quite interesting though. It's easily written so workers can understand them.

yeah nah, if I want to experience something new, think and relax i read fiction. if I need to acquire useful knoledge or elsw i read books and articles about science, you pretentious shit. see, it doesn't really matter which writer you choose
actually i would get into trouble for spreading belarusian culture because it's seen as a sign of rebel, so thanks :D
>>
>>66188802

But it is not entertaining tho. Only book that entertained me in like every two pages was Catch 22. Rest all made me depressed.

>horror games

Never played.

>Drama films

No. If you want entertainment watch comedy.

How can you get entertained in a movie about a gay political activist's last battle against AIDS except the scene where the fag dies?
>>
>>66188779
>I didn't read it though, I rather read modern fantasy than random 'literature' from different points of time.

t. Game of Throse Full Seasons 720p seeder

Dumb Belarossian.

Also, explain Belarussian culture thing? Are they rebel groups wanting to embrace ancient culture? Are they left or right wing? Seems interesting.
>>
>>66188841
>How can you get entertained in a movie about a gay political activist
Then why do you watch it?
>>
>>66188787
why? yes a lot of people died but he had best intentions and a vision. he transformed soviet union into a world superpower, you cant do that without having enemies all around you. its a huge burden and responsibility to carry such a duty. some people will never understand
>>
>>66188011
another citizen of belaruse, how nice!

anyway, I read it and I study it. I do like some authors too, like Tolstoy, Bulgakov and Gogol.

I don't.

>>
>>66188913

>>
>>66188886
>he transformed soviet union into a world superpower
yes it's true but he killed probably more people than Hitler
>>
>>66188931
Why do people watch it? Don't you understand, that this is kind of entertainment? Entertainment is not only laughter.
>>
>>66188978

I guess I think of in a very literal way.
>>
>>66188878
ad homs, how nice. anyway it's not like we're north korea tier. lukashenko is pro-russian and killed the remains of our culture outright with his first term presidency, making us russian lapdog as well
the opposition are nationalistic and seen as a threat to the regime. besides that they are retarded and useless anyway
>>
Top tier literature.
>>
>>66187901
Лeв Hикoлaeвич - oбычный гpaфoмaн.
Toлькo пoэты, тoлькo хapдкop.
>>
>>66188673
The whole point of fiction is escapism, which is supposed to at least be engaging, if not entertaining.

If I want to read something boring but factual then I would choose non fiction.
