Prussia has never been the unrivaled power in the Germanosphere. There's always been Austria/Bavaria to counter Prussian influence, so not all of Germany is goosestepping and sheepish militarism. You can despise Prussia and still not be self-hating as a German, get it in your head Prussiaboos.

Prussia went wrong when Wilhelm II. came to power and completely destroyed Bismarck's intricate diplomatic network which kept Europe in a balance. We could've had a British monarchy, which responds to the people and is held accountable by them, but instead we got Proto-Hitler (Friedrich III. was more liberal but died 88 days into his tenure)

Oh and Brandenburg is a shithole, but Potsdam has some nice castles n shiet. That was where the Prussian Elite were lounging around after all.

It happened aleady much earlier.
Prussia did hard to remove old traditions and bonds in all its teritorries since their policies allowed everyone to become a full Prussian who enlisted in their Military. (lots of poles went there for example even Spaniards and some Portoguese).

It was important to not allow differences being made between soldiers and inside of soldier corps. One standartized language was forced uppon them etc. Roots to their tribal origins and the bond to regionalism that they got from it needed to die.
