Son. All my grandparents or great grandparents are portuguese who arrived here without a penny. "O Cortiço" is from 1890 and "cabeças de porco" weren't favelas. Poor portuguese immigrants during the XX century lived in vilas. Until today, most of those same vilas are still owned by the sons and grandsons of those people.
As for Carmen Miranda, one of my great grandmother was friend with her family, and no, they didn't live in a favela or a cortiço. Please stop lying.
