Which language is easier to learn, Japanese or Mandarin?
And that being said, which one would you recommend I learn?
Japanese, Mandarin sounds ugly.

japanese

Fluent Japanese speaker here. (not weaboo actually raised in Japan)
I would say that Japanese is pretty difficult to write. Ive lived there 18 years and I can still barely read newspaper. Depending on combinations the reading is different so its just infinite. In Chinese every character has only one sound so its more simple. In term of speaking, i think Japanese is easier than Mandarin.

>easier
Japanese by a WIDE margin
>recommend
Japanese for vidya, technology, anime, good literature and good music
Chinese for future necessity and business

This
You can't watch anime in mandarin.
Also, mandarin sounds like liquid feces being poured into your ears.
none

There's an agreement between China and South Africa to teach Chinese, and there's much more Chinese people in your country.

Japanese sounds like a girl squealing.
DON'T LEARN MANDARIN
If you have Mandarin down on your resume and someone else had Japanese, THEY WILL FUCKING SEND YOU TO DEAL WITH SHITTY CHINESE PEOPLE INSTEAD.
Japanese is easier by far.

still traumatized months later desu
Learning Japanese right now; not that I was considering Mandarin in the first place, but contrary to popular opinion at least sound-wise I think it's pretty cool.
Can also understand some bits and pieces with Kanji alone now.

Mandarin is easier
Don't learn Mandarin, the only """"people"""" you'll be able to talk to is Mainland Chinese
>>65771432
Why? Are you want to emigrate to weeb-land, boer-san?
>>65771432
Why not go with more exotic options?
Malay, Vietnamese, and Indonesian are all begging for your linguistic attention. Korean's there for you too if you can't handle the heat.

sounds better than shing shong shoy shay ching chong
>>65771432
Mandarin grammar is really simple and similar to English
>>65771550
>>easier
>Japanese
definitely not
Japanese is super anal while Chinese is really lax and the grammar is more simple.
wich one would look better on my curricum? i was thinking in learning chinese, but hated the fucking tonal voice
Wanna be a rice farmer, import counterfeit clothes or work in a sweatshop?
Mandarin.
Wanna do the same kind of stuff as in Europe or north America but in Asia?
Japanese.

>Japanese is super anal
Subjects are optional in Japanese. You literally only need the predicate to make a complete sentence. No funky cases either. Verbs are just noun + conjugation.
It's the easiest language out there, objectively speaking.

I'm moving to Taiwan honestly which is pretty nice, learning Mandarin, I can always learn Japanese latter once I have a basis in Eastern languages. Mandarin is much easier anyways.
Korean is the easiest of the major ones though because its phonetic.
1 Japanese
2 Japanese

idk Mandarin is the same grammar as English but a bit more basic, it seems fairly easy to understand (for me) only the vocab is an issue, and writing, though simplified Chinese is SIGNIFICANTLY easier to learn.
like I said I'm moving to the ROC so Chinese would be nice.

>Korean
>major ones
Let's be honest here David Choi. Japanese and Chinese are on a whole different league.
It's like putting Portuguese on the same league as Spanish and German.

what other East Asian language would you put at #3?
maybe Cantonese I guess but Korean is the next biggest.
none
