There isn't really such a divide in france. Parisians for example don't think they're northern people, nor do Bretons etc.
When we refer to northern people we're thinking about the Ch'tis, and when we talk about the southern french we're usually talking about the Marseillais or people living around the Côte D'Azur.

Details aside the people are quite similar but the environment is a bit different, like for exemple the churches are roman in the south and gothic in the north, the houses and the accents are kinda different too, in the south we kiss on the cheeks when we meet, they don't do it as much in the north, and we use different expressions when we talk. The food is a bit different too, most of the recipes originally came from a specific region, like the cassoulet from south ouest, the flammenkuche from north east or the crèpes from Brittany
