I bet you're one of those people that likes talking about languages but never actually learns one.

Learning a language takes forever and it's only fun the first few weeks.

Learning mandarin for a little over a month
Just spamming vocabulary so far, and finally got through up through HSK4 (plus some other random shit). So I'm gonna start going through a bit of the "slow chinese" podcast following using the transcript

For the next two weeks I gotta slack a bit due to travel but then I'll come back in full force with 2+ hours a day

An Indigenous Language spoken from Alberta to Quebec
This dialect is in northern Alberta
I'm learning it so I can speak to my Nohkom and Mosom in Cree rather than English

It's basically spoken from Edmonton, northwards. Specifically, I'm tryna learn the Cree from Wabasca-Desmerais

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GQiDZFiEqp4&list=PL63332F153B98FBFD
this is the only video I can find with a sample, but she speaks from somewhere down south abit from Ed. Sounds weird to me

Someone pls rate my vocaroos for Spanish & Korean >>64405181

> native language
English

> what languages have you learned
Spanish, Esperanto, American Sign Language (tfw have started forgetting ASL)

> how/why did you learn them
Spanish: Immersion, just learned from people around me, took a couple classes but didn't pay attention t b h
Esperanto: Out of curiosity. Used some books and websites to learn, then started chatting online.
ASL: Language credit in high school, was good at it at the time but rarely used it since and have started forgetting it. I feel confident that if exposed to it again I would re-learn pretty fast, I hope to do this one day.

> what languages do you wish to learn
Studying Korean right now. Want to learn several more in the future but I'll probably need one more year before Korean is solid enough in my brain to safely put the focus on something else.

> what method of language learning do you recommend to other anons
- Anki/Memrise/spaced repitition
- Tons of listening, constant input
- Immersion and conversation
- Reading and writing
- HiNative is a great app, try it out

Spoonfed Chinese (testing pure audio)
vocab deck (imported frequency order HSK lists from http://data.hskhsk.com/lists/, also adding words that come up in spoonfed chinese or random stuff I watch)
Watching random music videos to reinforce vocabulary

That's pretty much it. I read a bit about grammar but then got bored. I'll just look stuff up if it's too confusing.

As from what I can tell
word order is very flexible.
For some reason I wanna say grammar [or syntax? idk] works KINDA like Finnish in a way (i'm saying this with a grain of salt) as in, it works by adding smaller words onto the 'main' word to form a nouns action.

There's four cases which are pretty easy desu. ACC, NOM, LOC and the other one I can't remember. Locative works almost like the Russian prepositional case too. So If you you already know how to work those cases together, It may be a little bit easier to learn

I would say it's popular among language enthusiasts. If you're someone who learns languages as hobby then it's highly likely you have heard of it, and somewhat likely that you have read up on it a little bit.

imo it's pretty unpopular on 4chan, people are fairly hostile about it here. But I guess that is to be expected.

My native ones are simple
Everything else is complex
But seriously, the german word order is fucking weird
