Are prices only very high in tourist traps though? Man, was in Trogir near Split back in August, and in (non-fancy) old town pubs/bars/restaurants they charge like €4 for a 0.5 beer, here in my village pub (very rich area though, it's more of a suburb for commuters than a real village) it's like €2.50, and if you venture a bit towards the poorer villages to the West (Eifel, Hunsrück regions) it goes to €1.50
