I've actually been wondering for quite some time if it would be possible to at least partially solve the obesity and general unfitness problem in 1st world countries with a system like that.

For example every year (just as an example, I don't know how hard would it be to get unfit and then back into shape within a year) you'd pass a test that would rate your physical fitness.

With a score high enough you'd get a tax relief (instead of the bonus paid vacations as the article in the OP mentions).
The advantages are quite obvious
1. Population gets fitter because monetary compensation is the best motivator
2. You are not forcing anyone, so if someone wants to dedicate his life to being a fat fuck, his choice.
