It's instead of c and z rather than s, which is pronounced normaly.
>see >>50998163

Confounding c, z and s conducts sudacas to miswrite "-ion" words, like writting constitusion, sustitucion, construcsion etc...

This is why every letter is supposed to be differentiated.

A Bolivian friend of mine, from Santa Cruz, differentiate "y" and "ll", saying "calle" like an italian would do.
I find it very beautiful, but I don't feel myself to mix a castillan accent with this because this would sound wrong and I want to seem natural.

El agua
El dia

>>
>>50999775
That's because every word starting with "A" goes with "el" automatically to avoid words getting mixed together. French has no problem with this and they just write "l'eau", but we need to write "el agua". When the word is plural, the article is plural as well so it's written in the "correct" gender again because the letters don't mix anymore.

el ave => las aves
el hacha => las hachas
el alma => las almas
el agua => las aguas
el arma => las armas
el as => las ases

Words with more than two syllables don't follow this rule (la hacienda, la armonía, la alfarería, etc.)

>>51000916

>>
>>51000988
Coming from English it is somewhat difficult, because we don't have verb endings that change for every verb. Most other Indo-European languages have an easy time with that transition, but I'm sure there are hangups elsewhere.

>>51000916
Because the masculine article in Spanish is "el", not "le" as in French. So there's no vowel after the /l/ to be eaten.

(And even if there was, Spanish is nowhere as prone to vowel deletion as French.)

>Fucking up Spanish just sounds that much worse.
absolutely
>>
>>51001213
Yeah. It's a bitch to learn those.

Tbh, if you really want to show off, you need to learn idioms and accents/regionalisms as well. Idioms are very, very common in English, and sometimes they're hard to put together if you haven't heard them before. Then you've got all of the different forms - mainstream British, Midlands American, Southern American, etc.

If you want a laugh listen to some Minnesotans. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2vjB3wiZKAA

Nicest people on Earth, but they sound so damn strange I just can't take them seriously sometimes.

Another thing I've noticed: body position.

Check in the video, the guy on the right keeps swinging slightly while talking, this is something quite common among native speakers (and quite funny too 2BH), but non-native speakers rarely do this.

>>51001280
Spanish is more forgiving towards poor pronunciation, though. If you, let's say, pronounce "cosa" with a Z-like sound or "dente" with a hard D instead of the TH-like sound, you'll get a noticeable accent, but you're still understood. On the other hand...

That's really just a mannerism for that one guy, I think. Typically I'm animated when speaking, but you're right; I don't think I move my lower body much, but moving my arms a lot is normal. Shifting a bit is pretty normal, but swaying around is kind of weird.

I've been to Sweden and found them to be much more reserved when speaking. Moving a lot like I would would exhaust or confuse them. Is Brazil kind of like that?

personally, i'm now sure if everyone understands the same thing out of this.
Our rule is simply: don't use words that say literally shit-like sounds when you pronounce them together. We don't contract them, we don't drop them, we simply don't use them(one redneck tier solution is to loudly say "comma" between the words, but that's incorrect)

French has something similar for the possessives:

mon garçon [masculine - my boy]
ma fille [feminine - my girl]
mon ami [masculine - my male friend]
mon amie [feminine - my female friend]

In both cases, the reason is more historical than proper "euphony", consonants and vowels being preserved in certain environments.

>>51001669
It's less a "mannerism" and more something carried with the language - check people speaking other languages, specially bilinguals; you'll see that they do it when speaking English but don't when speaking, say, Spanish or Chinese. It's akin to Italians moving their hands when talking.
(Of course, some people will do it more than others...)

>I've been to Sweden and found them to be much more reserved when speaking. Moving a lot like I would would exhaust or confuse them. Is Brazil kind of like that?
In this very regard, Romance speakers in general are far more reserved than English speakers, regardless of country.

Personal space-wise, though, Romance speakers usually have a smaller personal space than Anglos, although this does vary a lot even inside countries.
