What are some distinct art styles you like? Stuff you don't see a lot of artists do.

lately I'm in love with Frantz Hoffmann
>>3119173
>>3119174
His style reminds me of Franquin
>>3119176
Wylie Beckert
>>3119178
Timofey Stephanov
>>3119182
>>3119278
Stepanov is more painterly than average, he does some really intricate underdrawings too instead of just slapping textures everywhere
>>3118719
Walter Sickert is one. He's out on his own really.
>>3118719
Paul Delvaux's evening time scenes, instantly recognisable nobody else quite like it

2/2
don't know the artist for the first, forgot who made the second
>>3119605
Bernie Wrightson is the second one.

Leg proportions are off, and the way she's squatting is slightly unnatural, her legs should be bent forward more. The ellipse being drawn also doesn't really match the perspective
>>3119605
What a terrific artist, incredible value control in such a difficult medium
>>3119176
Reminds me of Vaughn Bodé. I wonder if he was an influence on him.
>>3119309
This is a really pretty piece.
>>3119605
Does this guy not use screen tones? Is it just a g-pen?
>>3119871
>dunning kruger
>>3119886
its not even probably a g-nib . probably some other western nib. but yeah. no screen tone all ink
>>3119182
the abyss watchers?
>>3119886
It's traditional crosshatching, there's no screens in that technique/look.
>>3120000
Surprisingly, no. Not nibs at all.

Prof: What sort of equipment do you favor?
BW: I like inking with a brush. I very seldom use a pen.
Bernie was old school, he was a contemporary of Frazetta.
Here's a picture of him, in his studio, holding the tools he used.
>>3120111
i don't think that should be surprising, inking with a brush isn't like a special secret style or anything, although i'm like 72% sure at least some of that is done with a pen, because there are square starts or whatever the inking term is for the start of a line
>>3120118
Could be, but when the artist himself says he rarely uses pens, I generally believe the artist. Plus, look at his brushes in the picture - instead of using 000's, he looks like he's using a cut down brush, and it might have a chisel shape, so that would explain the starts.
It definitely explains the expressive quality of his linework, tho - that's all about brush.
There aren't many pictures of him working, usually it's with a pencil, so it's hard to say. It's not a huge issue, I was just surprised he did so much with a brush.
>>3120137
could be actually, food for thought (gets brush and scissors)
