This is my most pain in the ass painting ever its about 30 cm x 47 cm. I just couldnt give the crab any more charachter or crabbyness. I wanted to make it look shy. But I ended up just sort of crating shiny surface arrangements. Im not unhappy with that its just a bit shallow. maybe appropriate for this hard skinned creature.
Let me know what you think

If this painting was a comic strip, how would it play out in four to five panels?

Must be a lot of pain, for the crab and for the artist.
Thanks for the comments so far. I'm done with it (pretty much) but yes still love the crit.

I was thinking of his crab paintings and got the idea he wanted the viewer to imagine opening that " flap" underneath it and getting a bit uncomfortable.

Postcard artists can say it with such simplicitas...
>>3097923
It's probably dead.
>>3097903

Honestly, one of the better submissions I've seen here in a while. Great color, great technique, good composition. I've seen art for sale that isn't as good.

>killing crab bros for reference
Not cool
>>3097907

Now I've signed it as well. I might touch up on it might not for now I'm happy with it again.
Would even reconsider how painful it would be do do five as a comic strip.
Thanks for all the help and nice comments.

eyes remind me of those sad cat edits
but it's kind of hard to depict emotion in an animal whose static emotes are pretty much just how close to its body it's holding its extremities

Thanks man! I was pretty much taught by /ic/ lots of absences but I dont have anywhere else to get real crit.
It looks more like he just watched his wife and children get put into the pot

sad crab
that said, agree on the comp and colors
I think you could dabble some more highlight on the crab
>>3097446
Dead or sad crab? Add energy and gesture since there's no visible muscle.
Paint from life not from dead.
Remember it well.
