Why is it so hard to just draw every day? Why am I so afraid? Why does it make me so depressed? Pic unrelated.
>>

you try drawing circles, lines, and ellipses for 5min? It helps me get started
>>
It is not that drawing everyday is hard. It's that not drawing is easier. Drawing requires some effort, and you may fuck something up, so you prefer not to try, and spend your time doing things that require less effort and have immediate reward.

Get off the Internet, especially off /ic/, get some resources before, or go for a walk and draw. I had no Internet for last five days, and I drew much more, and I also started drawing and painting a bit in my sketchbook for fun.

Draw boring and shitty subjects from life. Like a box of cereals or worn out shoe. Kind of a brain trick that works for me. When I draw something ugly I don't get attached to getting a pretty result but can instead focus on the process
>>
Why do faggots make thread for every little shit they feel?

Fucking social media generation. No one cares. Do the work or fuck off. You're telling me you can't draw some fucking lines on paper to get started? Just fucking do it. Draw one fucking line and get the fuck out of here. Draw.
>>
>>3094598
also what works for me is to just relax and stop caring about the outcome sometimes, of course I do some serious stuff too, like when I'm practising, drawing from books, doing estures and so on, but I also just like to lay on my bed and draw what I see, or go for a walk and draw in a quiet place, and then add some watercolours, or draw the view from my window and so on.
>>
comparing yourself and fretting about problems in your drawings can make you depressed.

enjoy yourself. get loose. face your fears.
>>
>>3094600
If you don't care then fuck off. The whole point of 4chan art critique is people communicating with others. Yes, this involves people bitching.
>>
The problem is you still have self respect

I dunno maybe because you suddenly realize this isn't your imaginary life, it's a different world than you ever dreamed of, and all of a sudden, your work just doesn't have the same importance and significance in this one.

I see what you guys mean but do you have any tips for not caring? When I draw I can't help but notice that it's bad.
>>
>>3094870
I sometimes doodle whatever impulse my hand gets and listen to music that helps me let go. Yanno big loose scribbles, maybe even intentionally bad ones, to get out of my head a bit.

Other times I write down all my doubts and critical thoughts as they pop into my mind.

Anyone got the Hard Boys book scans?
>>
I make it as easy as possible for me to sit down and start drawing. My sketchbook is always open on an empty desk with whatever I want to study. It's right by the door so I reach it before my computer. I'll recommend you streamline until you make it into a habit. Carry a small cheap sketchbook to draw on the go, or draw on napkins w/e. I'll say the better you get the easier it is to draw, which leads to you getting better.
>>
You have to mentor yourself through the negative self talk. Realize that the negativity is not useful right now, you need logic and comfort. For me it's 1. What do I want to draw? 2. What's getting in the way of me drawing it? 3. What should I work on at the moment? And remember it's always ok that you can't draw something for now.

Harry Bush. Yes it's a pseudonym and he's dead now. Sucks.

When I'm stuck and don't have any kind of interest to draw whatsoever, I put on a porno, pause it, and draw what's on the screen.
The trick is to not masturbate until you're done. Because for some reason the arousal makes drawing easier. Although I have no idea why.

Harry Bush who I found out was possibly a super hardcore tracer but I like his stuff nontheless.

That's disappointing but I like it too. Nice stuff.
>>
You don't have to think to draw. You don't even really have to pay attention when drawing. Go draw something while watching tv or something.
>>
I've noticed that if I start drawing first thing after breakfast I can draw the whole day with some breaks in-between.

If I set a certain time frame when I gotta draw (atleast one hour from 3pm-6pm daily) I can draw atleast an hour every day.

If I ignore any time frames I can't get myself to draw the whole day.
>>
>>3095888
Isn't that the opposite of mindful practice?
>>
>>3094887
That first bit is a great idea
>>
>>3095365
Harry Bush is, very surprisingly, not a pseudonym
>>
>>3095888
This is what artlets actually believe
>>
>>3094741
he's right though

people who post just to complain about not wanting to draw have no discipline and are just wasting everyone's time

want to draw but don't feel like it?

1) you don't want to draw and have deluded yourself into thinking you should draw

2) you're lazy

solution? put pen to paper. draw a line. draw some ellipses. practice your confidence if nothing else. do some figure studies/gestures from the billions of photographs you have available for free online.

we all gotta take the first step, nobody else can do it for you. only then can you ask questions that really matter.
>>
>>3095904
doesn't matter, improves your dexterity if nothing else so at least you're not just wasting time by not doing anything art related
