Do any of you meditate before drawing? Shit's nice.
I'm assuming there are a lot of skeptics and to that I say do some reasearch you fucking normies.

If you don't meditate you're ngmi

I exhaust myself and try to stay awake for long as possible to keep away the bad thoughts, does that count?
>>3086358
Depends on if you're focusing on your breath as you relive your past traumas.
>>3086344
probably I'm too dumb, I never understood how to meditate.

I meditate on this terrible life choice I've made to pursue art as a career, yes
Dunno why but meditation has always seemed like something that could go well with artmaking in general, only under the condition that it generally improves your condition as to make you potentially more motivated and creative, but not as an exercice used directly on artmaking.
Though sometimes I let myself sink into a sort of trance when drawing, which pretty much counts same as meditation.
Works especially well with long sessions of dotwork.

meditation is not just "losing yourself"
what you start off with is you (probably sit) quietly and breathe, focusing on your breath
and any thought that pops into your mind, you acknowledge it, see where it's coming from and then you start over.
The "goal" (even though it's usually detrimental to think in terms of goals) is to achieve mindfulness, it's like practicing the fundamentals of thinking and information processing.
After you have become good enough at acknowledging your thoughts and where they come from you can remove "yourself" from the equation, the reality which you percieve becomes yourself.
Which like any psychadelic experience can have profound effects on your brain, and in some studies it has been shown it can heighten your IQ by around 20%
So yeah do meditate, even though it sounds counterproductive to just sit around and 'do nothing' it is the most effective performance enhancer for cognition.

what
why would you want to do that

I was just playing along with the joke. It was bad. I'm sorry.

Meditation is nice but I'm too impatient to make a daily scheduled with it.
I want to get into all types of /x/ shit for art gains but can't be bothered to start properly.
woah
>>3086344
I can't focus properly on drawing longer stretches without meditating first

>I want to get into all types of /x/ shit for art gains but can't be bothered to start properly.
Are you me?
>>3086344
No, I do a light workout. Warm up the body, get blooding flowing to the brain, work out whatever kinks in body to increase freedom of movement. Also helps with the restlessness in sitting in one spot for a prolonged period

It's ok anon, I thought it was funny

A cup of tea on a peaceful afternoon is meditation enough
I was pretty serious about meditation a while back and did it erry day for a couple months. I still don't know how useful it is. I can't quantify the positive impact. My motivation eventually waned, but I'll probably get back into it at some point because I dig it conceptually.
I have to say though, drawing feels like meditation to me (depending on what I'm making) and it helps me build self worth, so two flies with one stone for now.
Meditation is basically sitting around and doing nothing.
I'd say we at /ic/ are masters of that.

Maybe. What stuff have you tried?

>something material counts as meditation
