How does one get noticed on social media? It always feels like no matter how much I try to pander or how good the art I post is, people always gloss over me and flock to another artist.

Pic unrelated.

you should post your work so we know "how good your art is", you know there is a lot of people that think his art is very good and is not so good as they think.
Also, should post the art of the other artist that people flock into, so we can compare.
>>
>>3085865
Be original, if you art is good but "inspired" by someone else you will always be a shadow of that person, its better to be unique even if it turns your art more shitty by your own standards

Also be likable, interact with people and be proactive, return follows and follow people with similar interests as you

And be active, consistency is the key of life
>>
>>3085865
post your social media, anon. Maybe your art just isn't that marketable to the audience you're trying to attract.

Might I request specific criticisms? Something like "the collar should be turned a bit more this way" or "one of her ears are too small". I can't improve with something as general as "grind fundementals".

And I'm working on fixing the hair as we speak.

Your problems aren't small, specific things like "the collar should be turned a bit more this way" but big fundamental problems like "you have no idea how to draw faces" and "you don't understand how to render form"

to be honest your drawing style is not appealing. i wouldn't follow you to enjoy your content or to study your work because you don't know how to paint or or proportion or stylize or theorize color at all yet. you dont have followers because you still need to take art classes anon
>>
>>3087467
you are good at drawing but your work is very unimaginative and repetitive and boring. its nice to draw in b&w and to draw one niche but only if you have an incredible style and unlimited creativity to keep an excited audience, like adria mercuri or natalie hall.
>>
>>3085898
Basically what this nigga said, and you need to post everyday specially when you small, bitches love their daily dose of your sketches and doodles

Draw fanart of something popular. And draw more than just portraits or still art.

Whether it's a comic or just a dynamic piece, do something that conveys some kind of motion. Pretty pictures are boring. Active ones stick in people's minds.
>>
>>3088941
>fanart
Draw porn OP. Lesbian porn.
>>
>>3087467
your "style" gets boring over time and while you have interesting designs the message behind each piece isn't interesting at all. also stop taking such shitty photos, just give us a top down view asshole
>>
>>3087467
Fucking cuckifornian hipster. I bet you crossdress in public and call it "fashionable".
>>
>>3085998
instead of worrying about your online popularity just focus on how you can improve your own art. you will naturally gain a following without even having to actively do anything beyond self improvement. it's obvious that you're trying to chase fanbases and hide your lack of skill behind coloring and "style," but you didn't need anyone to tell you that. you're not even asking for how to fix a specific piece, you're asking for how to change your "style" and which characters to draw so that you can gain internet fame. get your head out of your own ass and rethink why you're even bothering to draw. is it to please the whims of total strangers on the internet, or do you really want to improve?
>>
>>3085898
Be original, if you art is good but "inspired" by someone else you will always be a shadow of that person

Disagree. All you need to do is get better than that person
>>
>>3090166
The first one will always be the best because he was the first one, you can tell the name of the first person who walked on moon but you can't on the fourth even if the latter was more effective, I don't care if theres people who can technically write better than Edgar Allan Poe, because Edgar was the pioneer in gothic romance and horror he will always be the original reference people look upon in that genre

Have fun being in someone's shadow tho and I'm not even getting started on how subjective being better than someone is anyways
>>
>>3085998
First of all: very unoriginal.

Looks like Frozen knockoff and wtf is that posture?
Are you drawing a dead person?
>dead blank stare
>pillow shade/hue
>no background interaction
>indecisive coloring (also uncanny valley)
I'd rather stare at a picture of an amateurish model.

Raise your artistic value
>>
>>3090166
A beaten path is always the path of ruin.
Traverse a path hitherto unknown is your one and only path.
>>
>>3085998
I see bad color choices by beginners all the time but usually it's the same problems (muddy or over-saturated). Your colors individually would be easy on the eyes but in your piece they clash with each other so perfectly that it actually hurts my eyes to look at.
I'm honestly kind of impressed.
>>
>>3085865
Be female.
>>
>>3085898
>its better to be unique even if it turns your art more shitty by your own standards

Absolutely terrible advice.
There are no good artists who weren't inspired by others. If you like an artist's work enough that you want to copy what it is they are doing, then that means their work strongly resonnates with your own taste. To ignore this inspiration would be to ignore your own taste, your own sense of aesthetics etc. The only way to grow into your own artistic style that is worth a damn is to immerse yourself with art you love and try to LEARN from it.
>>
>>3090558
Be inspired by someone is natural and normal, thats the point of every craft, see someone doing something and want to emulate and be just as good as them
But eventually you need to fly with your own wings, we can say that Lovecraft and even Stephen King are all inspired by Poe, but they don't try to be him because we can distinguish their styles, they are all similar but each one has their peculiarity from their authors

If everybody did the exact same thing as their predecessor there wouldn't be innovation or progress at all in anything, the point of learning from the old masters is extracting everything of value you can use and adapt the leftover to your own style
>>
>>3085865
People who get noticed don't have to try hard and ask how to get noticed. Stop begging. If you had talent they would already be flocking.

This seems as good a place as any to ask. But for those of you managing multiple sites, do you usually manage two of each one?

Reason I'm asking is, I typically only follow artists I like, because I only want art that I like showing up in my feed. However, it appears that when trying to brand yourself you should mass follow artists so that they will follow you back. In which case, you'd need a second account just to look at stuff you want to look at.

Thoughts?

>>3090378

All paths are beaten. This advice in and of itself is nonsense. You cannot create something that has never been done you can only attempt to present it in a way that has not been presented. And even that is somewhat of a futile endeavor.

To this Poe example, it seems like you are saying no one should ever attempt Gothic Romance or Horror since he did it already. Which is fucking stupid.

Holy fuck stop being so dense, they already explained the point is to be inspired by someone but eventually meld into your own style, nobody ever got famous for autistically trying to be a replica of someone else, eventually in their careers they got their own style even if it resembles someone else it still not the same because they have their own peculiarities

If you honestly think the path to popularity and sucess is just to be another shitter whose artstyle can't even be tell apart from some other shitter then be my guest, pixiv is full of people who draw exactly the same and are nobodies meanwhile people who you may think are ''inferior'' have more going on because you can actually recognize them by their drawings

because you spend your time posting anime drawn by other artists on a art/crit image board, instead of drawing and posting your own shit on a art/crit image board.
>>
>>3085865
Why do you care, if you're a beginner and still working on the fundamentals of art? This is putting the cart before the horse, and honestly this kind of thread doesn't belong in ic, as it's not an art critique, or even talking about art technique.

>>
>>3093080
I meant to reply to >>3093041
>>
>>3093080
Then perfect your vision. Art is about an expression of beauty, beauty is perfection. Artists must always express their deepest emotion and uppermost aspiration, the theme has to be something that you love, respect, contempt, and fear the most. You can't draw anime, video game references, and random people sitting on a bench for the rest of your life. That isn't a perfection at all.
>>
>>3092741

Except that's not what the anon I was responding to said.

What YOU'RE saying, I agree with. All art is built upon art that came before. It's the same with stories. The idea to arrange those elements in a way that you can call your own. I agree 1:1 copying of someone's style is bad, everyone already knows that.

It seemed to me they were saying don't even try to do something in the genre of someone who did it before because you'll be in their "shadow" and you should create a whole new genre and do something no one on earth ever thought of before so you can be "first" which is fucking stupid advice.

Any cynic who is read enough can break anything down into elements that were done by somebody else. I'm not making a case against originality, more like a case of measured expectations. It's too much to ask for every single person to pull something cohesive out of thin air that doesn't correlate to anything ever. But with effort you should be able to take things that exist and present them in a way that is unique to yourself.

Are you just a regular social media artist? People boycott new artists OP. It's a social thing. They don't want to retweet or like new artists because they might offend one they already follow, last thing they want to do is discourage a artist they've already been following because they start supporting the next shiny thing. Only way past it is if you work at a professional studio or something like that which makes it ok because pro and such.
