Artfags are some of the most self-absorbed people in existence. Even having never met them, I can guarantee your art friends are not keeping tabs on you. Their heads are so far up their own assholes that you and your art probably don't even cross their minds unless you speak to them directly.

I know you can't flip a switch and start magically feeling a certain way, but try to stop worrying so much about what other people think. Draw at a pace that works for you, and fuck everyone else.

Dont worry about what other people are doing, friends or otherwise. You love drawing and practicing and having fun, which is more valuable than you might think. A lot of people on here get too serious about grinding and such, and then years later realise they dont have fun anymore and dont know how to get back to that. I cant help but feel like im not their friend if i dont try harder in drawing.
I do love drawing, but now every time i pick up my pen i think about how im not improving fast enough and how other friends are doing much better than I am, and I get discouraged.
Its saddening.

its all in your head bby. drawing is a lonely adventure, just because you are friends with artists doesnt mean they have any stake in your adventure. theyre just other people to socialize with. you have to focus on drawing and what interests you, not getting shaken up by fake pressures.

I knew many people like you in school who turned very dark and just disappeared. Always a really sad thing seeing someone too hard on themselves.

Not only did >>3081879 this happen to me on /ic/ but in art school I was part of a "cool kids" group where we would all gripe about how we were the only ones who "cared" about working as artists.
Once I started really struggling because of personal problems I was estranged from many of them. They talked about me behind my back saying how lazy I was. I believe, even my teachers, were in on it.
Artists are self centered, but they are also unquestionably competitive. If you don't give them good competition they have no way to validate themselves (probaby why my teachers were in on it, the second we showed we didnt care they'd take it personally).

I feel the same way. I know a guy who used to draw as much as I did. He was much better than me and always doing new things. His depression killed his drive and self confidence and now he doesn't even pick up a pencil anymore.

It sucks when drawing becomes a center for anxiety. Why not just draw some really random stuff? Just turn off your brain and just draw. This helps me when I get to stressed about creating stuff, might not work for you though.
