If you're lucky and have the right connections, you can be a vehicle for the money laundering of the upper class in the world of fine art (hopefully before you are dead).

/ic/ has tunnel vision on a very narrow sect of the art world. Everyone circle jerks over fantasy/sci-fi/concept art, or lewd anime Patreons / private porn commissions. I'm not exaggerating - that's all most people know here.

This. /ic/ seems to focus on draftsmanship/classical principles and insists on rigid discipline and years of study. A lot of artists just seem to shit out work that may be of lesser quality or draftsmanship and have careers doing that. I get so lost sometimes here. Everyone says to do different things and noone seems to really agree...

The problem is, /ic/ likes weeb shit and vidya and can't make the slightest leap toward anything else. They also value technical execution over everything when there are very few trades that exclusively reward this... aside from nostalgic fantasy art.

It's massively ironic that you have these wannabe concept artists who are in love with sci-fi. Rather than make their dreams a reality and invent the future, their dream job is designing crates for Halo 12.
