I got into a private art school on a full scholarship! As much as I want to hate /ic/ for all the trolls, I was actually able to stay motivated and practice regularly thanks to this board. Here's a work from my entrance portfolio.
Others who have gotten into art school should post here too so those still preparing can see what it takes to get accepted!

I understand just one page out of a sketchbook you sent, but do you have finished pieces you could post? I don't see that being worth a full scholarship desu but its only one sketch.

Sure, here's a self portrait. BTW, the school wanted to see WIPs and sketches in addition to finished pieces!
When I met with a school rep before I submitted my portfolio, they strongly advised against color pencils, anime, fan art, abstract drawings, and drawings from photos.

Hmm, did you just graduate highschool with this portfolio? What is your major, concept art or just generic fine arts?

I took two years off after school to work and get my own place. My major is sequential art(comics) and illustration

Just curious because I took a community college drawing class for fun and to fill up my credits and the teachers all made it seem like getting a scholarship was quite difficult.
I even saw people with work much better then yours(no offense, they were just really good) worried about their portfolios so I thought I wouldn't have a chance.

How's the comics business?
