There's quite a variety, some are very springy and thick and some very hard and thin. The best you could do is buy a couple cheap ones and try them out, the one I use and love cost me like 99c.

Idk man, but you can try finding this pen that this guy uses. And have very good control on how much pressure you apply and keep it clean like other anon said

Scott Robertson recommends Zebra ballpoints and I like them a lot. Zebra stopped making the Jimnie ballpoint he prefers (they still make a Jimnie gel pen he incorrectly links to on his website), and according to his Instagram he reuses his old pens with Zebra Sharbo ballpoint refills. For a super fine ballpoint, I saw Kim Jung Gi using these once https://www.amazon.com/Xeno-Shinzi-Katoh-Peluche-Point/dp/B00RPANVJK/ and your post reminded me I still have to buy a box. The only other 0.38mm ballpoint I've seen is a Jetstream.
