Does 2chan have an /ic/ equivalent? How do we stack up to the competition?
>>3035087
>drawing european classical
stop being edgy and just draw anime
probably like that
https://zip.2chan.net/11/futaba.htm
this should be its equivalent
>>3035769
yeah there's that and this: http://zip.2chan.net/14/futaba.htm
which is the porn art board
I see some critique/redlines going on in this thread
http://zip.2chan.net/14/res/33427.htm
http://www.asahi-net.or.jp/~zm5s-nkmr/
Is this the japanese equivalent of loomis?
Someone linked it in a thread, there's a ton of stuff here if you click around.
>>3035769
holy shit the shitpost potential is great, i could name myself gaijin kun and only respond to people in english as a do redlines.... why are they all so bad....
>>3035790
holy fuck this is great
https://zip.2chan.net/11/res/39550.htm
There is this one really helpful guy who redlines/redaws more recent threads (haven't checked back that far)
They draw really naturally and reminds me a lot of 0033
>>3035087
Anyone know of any Chinese equivalent?
>>3036113
not all, but more comprehensive collection of this person's 2ch posts
>>3036113
That's gotta be him, I've seen those pictures on pixiv.
>>3036113
what threads?
>>3036168
just keep scrolling through the threads and pages: https://zip.2chan.net/11/futaba.htm
it's fairly easy to spot his style, although a lot of the ones in >>3036113 have already expired.
There are some genuinely good draw/paint overs.
I'm impressed by some of the effort that people go to to help the OP.
What I've noticed is that there's less text only replies, and more draw-to-demonstrate. Another difference, compared to /ic/ is that most, if not all, images posted is actually drawn by the poster.
No one there seems to care about asking for or posting blogs, haven't seen a single pixiv link or anything. Multiple paintovers/drawovers in almost every thread.
My overall impression is that they more seem a lot more focused in improving instead of shitposting.
>>3036490
Japan takes art a lot more seriously than we do. Really wish I could speak moon.
>>3036490
Probably because the general mindset over there seems to be focused on improving yourself, not shitting on people who are better than you.
>>3036490
>Blogposting is bad
Yea sharing your work or asking to follow someone because they inspire you is bad because you are too much of a insecure shitter to even create a blog, let alone post it here right?
Besides even tho asians tend to be kind productive, they are social autists so they aren't any rolemodels, weebfag
>>3036503
I wasn't trying to imply that, if that was how it came across then my mistake. It was just an observation. I expected to see people posting their pixivs but I found nothing and I was disappointed.
>>3036504
They are social retards anon, most of them get sucess by sheer skill and some luck instead of working smarter and learning how to network/sell yourself properly
But /ic/ shares some of this childish romanticized vision of getting famous all by sheer skill alone, so I can understand
>>3036196
>that first redline
Did they actually print out and work over it?
Also, those are some amazing redlines. The original drawing wasn't even that bad but they still got extremely helpful advice.
>>3036503
Lmao someone's feeling defensive
>>3036507
/ic/ understands that without skill you're nothing anyways.
>>3036196
>What I've noticed is that there's less text only replies, and more draw-to-demonstrate
There may be some wisdom to this. Often, maybe as often as 50% of the time I feel the text-based crits I give get completely lost somewhere during the translation and it's a complete crapshoot whether the recipient actually understands what I said and learns from it, or if they construe it as some kind of an insult.
Paintovers/redlines though, they usually are instantly understood. Even if they're actually wrong, people at least understand what you were trying to say.
>>3036512
This is the same thing as saying a game should only be published if the graphics are tier 1 or someone should study technical music/literature for years before writing a song/book
Except dealing with people and selling yourself is ALSO a skill
Having a comic be read and liked by people because its well written is ALSO a skil
Einstein said himself creativity is more important than intelligence, I'd rather be average but get my own fanbase and life going, than be an autist in denial chasing some inhuman perfection
Also I think it's something of a cultural thing in Japan and other Asian cultures that it's seen as some kind of a responsibility for more advanced students of an art/craft/game to teach less experienced ones. I've seen this in the culture surrounding the boardgame of Go, where stronger players are expected to give advice and pointers and analyze the game together with the weaker player after a game. It's also generally understood that teaching is one way even for the teacher to improve themselves in some way, by clarifying their thoughts by having to put them into a teachable form etc.
Huge difference to the "gg ez, noob" mentality in most competitive western games.
>>3036525
>It's also generally understood that teaching is one way even for the teacher to improve themselves in some way
Makes sense. The Feynman Technique says that once you've learned something new, trying to teach it is the final step to getting it. If you can't explain it, then you don't actually get it.
Does this look familiar to anyone else?
>>3036554
As >>3036113 and other anons mentioned, it's 0033 (https://www.pixiv.net/member_illust.php?id=59317)
Some of the redlines are already found in the logs they've uploaded.
Wow, an actual pro gives advises on futaba's ic? I'm jealous. We only have jealous tumblrfucks here on /ic/
/ic/ could learn a thing or two from 2chs art board, the posters seem to actually help each other out and it's not full of vehement, shitposting autists
>>3036759
Japan is all about conformity and helping each other. Unlike the west.
i wish i could read glorious nipponese
>>3036512
Yea, because people don't do art to express a feeling or emotion, they all do it because they need to make masterpieces everytime
When will the unrealistic romantic autistic standard meme end?
>>3036640
there are actual pros giving advices on /ic/
you can't distinguish them from the amateurs? not my problem
>>3036507
>no one posts blog
>they're social retards
good grief /ic/
>>3036785
Then learn it with us at >>>/int/djt and the 2 other japanese learning threads on int
>>3037155
>wasting time learning a dying language instead of drawing
wew boy
>>3037157
>He didn't read the thread
Japan is literally all criticism, and they do it in the place of shitposting like you are.
No one here can prove they aren't shitposting.
>>3037163
Learning a new language is pretty nice dude, you should check it out
Unironically want to learn japanese more than i do drawing now
>>3037176

>>3035087
>How do we stack up to the competition?
I hate sounding autistic but how are manga and anime artists competing against people in the west?
>>3037224
Economically western artists have less job oportunities but it's not like japanese artists are having it great either.
Talent wise, it's subjective.
>>3036128
This
>>3036768
>otaku is all about conformity and helping each other. Unlike the weebs.
Ftfy
>>3037170
This
>>3037218
Honestly that kind of stuff may be useless but the ability to learn is incredible in itself.
If someone can memorize all the Kanji with the different pronunciations, he's probably able to memorize things like anatomy without effort.
>>3037939
That's not true
t. someone who learned Japanese.
>>3037163
I want to learn Latin for the hell of it. Fite me.
>>3037939
> If someone can memorize all the Kanji with the different pronunciations
You only need to know two or three readings... The more rare readings of Kanji are more on a word by word basis, but even then...
>>3037155
djt is the fucking "alt art shitpost thread" of jp and int. Just a bunch of blind leading the blind. People here would fit right in
>>3037155
If it was spoken in more countries maybe.
