From what I've seen with artist couples is that there is usually a weird dynamic created because one person will be better than the other at art. It creates this imbalance in the relationship that can create feelings of inferiority or resentment, or one person feeling superior to the other. It's not something really talked about either so just builds as tension internally until things fall apart.

/ic/ is my rival. There are a couple of people on here (that I don't like and do like) and I don't want them to be better than me. I don't like the feeling of being left behind and them gradually getting better. I want them to get better but at the same time I don't want them to beat me. It brings back grade school memories in a way and is good enough rivalry for me although I wish I had an IRL friend still to compete with.
