>mfw I see people that treat Deviantart like facebook and upload nothing but photos of normie shit
Is there any point in using Deviantart still over tumblr?

Deviantart is more accessible to people who aren't knees deep into.. I mean, people who don't use tumblr. It's actually designed for artists, whereas tumblr is like instagram with bigger pictures.

Tumblr just sucks all around for artists the only reason people use it is because its the most popular, not because its better

Even tho I have more followers on Tumblr then DA, I still prefer DA. People interact more there, there's groups to join, contests, collabs and it just overall feels more social. It's just a bit more fun and since I personally draw for fun, that's the most important thing to me.

I recognize you..
That's another thing, because of people like anon, your art looks better in comparison on Deviantart. Like when people do searches, they're more likely to click on your stuff because of the overall "fun" and shenanigans that goes on there.

Deviantart is an online portfolio

Tumblr has just been so worthless for me.
Deviantart isn't great either, mind, but the format is great for mid-tier artists unlike Tumblr's shitty blog formatting/archiving (it's an actual portfolio), you have a higher chance of slowly building an audience without having to pander to stupid crap or be amazing, and you control any drama that spills onto your gates.
People try to drag you into their political games? Delete them and their comments! Fuck em. But you can still hold a conversation with fans or peers with their comment system, or canvas easily to get your work out.
Twitter is worthless for me, Facebook is weirdly alright, and Instagram has been weirdly great for me. Instagram's standards are so low and their involvement so high.

I don't know if you noticed but deviantart has become completely degenerate and is nothing but shit. Any artist worth anything already jumped ship for more professional friendly places. All that's left there is the kids and their fetishes and autismo.
It's pretty noticeable in the job offers forum where a lot of them tend to be about porn, when years ago those were slightly rarer. Absolutely no respectable job shows up there.

deviantart sucks

Its still better than Tumblr.
Tumblr sucks
>>3013672
they're both pretty shit
it's so easy to just have your own website now that I don't know why everyone didn't just go personal website/twitter and maybe pixiv
>>3013735
Because signing up to deviantart/tumblr isn't about posting your work on the best site, it's about posting your work on every site.
>>3013740
Posting everywhere is too tedious and exhausting.
Its the reason why most people migrate to the most popular place and just put everything there
>>3013740
I could never keep up with posting on multiple sites. Very few people don't have a twitter anyway, it's easiest to just post on twitter a lot and just use that to lead people to your full portfolio.
>>3013743
It takes like 15 minutes.
You're telling me you're gonna spend 40-80 hours on a piece and then not post it absolutely fucking everywhere? Just like ticking off a checklist, throwing down the same hashtags and fucking off for a celebratory wank.
>>3013749
Sure if all I ever did was fully rendered painting projects.
Not to mention nobody fucking cares abut da or tumblr anymore. As far as online presence matters twitter is the only one that still actually matters.

is there any point in using tumblr over instagram in terms of audience reach?
I posted a drawing on my tumblr of 1k followers and it got 36 notes in 4 days. The same drawing got 50 notes in 30 minutes on my instagram of 15 followers.
I feel like if I'd been focusing on instagram instead of tumblr for the last year and a half or so I mained tumblr, I'd have gotten a lot more (you)s. The only reason I don't is because it's got the annoying added step of putting it on my phone.

Half of your followers are bots not real people.
>>3014395
On tumblr I cull the bots.
>>3013668
That's the doomed future of DA. For some reason they're lacking in funds. They need to sell something which is the users ala botnet style
>>3013668
I'd rather see normie shit than some of things that are on dA
