A very common advice here is to draw what you want to draw. The exercises are only there to aid you in getting better at drawing what you want. So, what do you want to draw? Draw that.

Stop listening to the try hards here, and draw. If you want to draw characters, do that. You'll find on your own what you need to work on, like textures, clothing, hair, etc. Start doing bits and peices, like helmets, and when you have a good grip on all of it, start putting it together.

Try to do a drawing a day. Doesn't matter what. It could be simple, or take all day. Just pick the pencil up, and stop worrying about the bad memes here.

Pretty much this. The only way to learn how to drawn what you want is by doing it. Studies won't teach you to draw cool characters. You will be shit at first but hopefully all that study pays off and it can be applied to drawing what you want. That's the whole point.

You actually have to study drawing cool characters too. Look at art that you like and try to emulate it. Study how they do stylization and all that.
