I recommend all those books, I think Hornung is much better than Gurney to learn about color.

I personally recommend "Keys to Drawing" by Dodson over it, but Edwards is cool too, exercises are solid, at the end it becomes a bit unnecessary, but overall it's ok.

Loomis and Edwards teach two different things.
Loomis explains things like construction or perspective.
Edwards is more like

If you can ignore her rants, quotes and anecdotes about her marvelous students, you can go through the main exercises in her book in one week.

They complement each other well, because Edwards will teach you the basis of drawing from observation, something Loomis added at the end of Fun with a Pencil in one fucking page only

Her book is popular largely because it can be "taught" by people with no credentials, making it the go-to book for public elementary substitute teachers across the country. You may see some benefit from it, but it won't take you far, especially if your aspiration lie on the more commercial side. It's a few good exercises surrounded by tons of fluff. Sure. I always suggest the workbook over the regular book as it offers more stuff to practice. I actually do some of the exercises every year or when I can't think of what to draw to keep some of the things I learned from those exercises fresh in my mind. You can mostly ignore the psuedo "brain hemisphere science" stuff honestly

Don't sweat it in the early days, but there will eventually come a point where you need to look at something real.

Consider art classes in your area. Not now, but eventually. Plus you'll get some actual constructive criticism too, and make contacts, all good shit. And here you can rotate the bodies around, which will do in a pinch (don't rely on this):

The issue I have with buying tutorials is you never know the actual quality of the instruction until you buy it. If it's garbage you lost "pocket change" that is capable of buying like 36 fucking extra large eggs on something totally worthless. That's a lot of god damn food.

That's why I almost never buy tutorials until I pirate them first and determine if they have value. THEN I give them money for doing it right when so many artists do it wrong.

Does anyone have the complete Gatchaman Crowds: Kinako Design Works artbook? I actually saved the entire thing when an anon uploaded it several years ago, but then I deleted five or so pages from it because I'm a complete fucking idiot, thus it's incomplete. I'm pretty positive those pages are just white pages and a table of contents, but they're still important and I'm dumb. Despite that, I'm pretty sure this is the most high quality and most complete version of it than everything else online.

i'd only scanned the lineart pages; the front pages are keyscenes(?) in crayon-ish drawing style so i won't scan it

I don't really get the appeal of Range Murata; beyond having skill, and being consistent, his faces are kind of weird and same-y and and almost have a clay-like quality.
He's good at what he does, but never really pushes it in terms of colour or movement; kind of boring.
Then again, I like his sketches a lot more than his rendered stuff.

On another note, does anyone have SF25 Art of Streetfighter? I could only find SF20.

probably photography based books will have the most good basic info on composition, film too.

you could also try reading analysis of specific paintings and gleaning the general rules from the specific critique if you want more painting based rules. although i'm sure there must be general books too.
