Is that the front page for you though? My frontpage is Star Wars day, a contest for that new Shyamalan movie and then daily deviations. If I click on browse I automatically get to undiscovered. I never click on popular 24 hours or "what's hot".

Everything that's featured on popular is there because it got a certain amount of favs and comments required for the algorhythm to pick it up. Fairly straight forward, so what's the confusion about? That some shit artists know how to play the popularity game and have lots of watchers who constantly get them featured?
