Unless you are creating some software that paints shit on its own, you just wasted a lot of fucking time that you could have just put your flowchart to practice.

Interstingly colours moving "away" from green is a new angle i hadnt looked at that way yet, thanks for that insight desu

Seems like you are going about it backwards really? Shadows are not something placed onto objects. Shadows/darkness is the default state, and then you add in light. You will get a lot farther if you focus on light instead of shadows.
