It's true that most of the techniques and knowledges can be found on the internet. But connections, training for work ethics, discipline and teamwork are what they're actually for

I don't know about 'murica, but that's the case of the romanian education, with the exception of the good schools which are too expensive for the common parent to afford

art school is for making connections and networking
its why alot of modern cartoons come from calarts, because calarts has alot of connections in the industry.

better take multimedia arts with photography.

photography involves studying and capturing the unique values of the subject thoroughly than copy 1:1 paintings. if possible take multimedia animation instead of arts.

try courses that will let you touch CAD and do 3D stuff and 2D stuff on an iMac + Cintiq in the classroom. This is the best way to go.
