Whos your biggest influence when it comes to style?
>pic realated
Mine is Sinix, i dont know man, but i just love the way he draws faces, bodys ..everything.
>>2931469
You are
>>2931469
Here.
Answering the question for 50% of all the people on this board.
>>2931469
Sinix is a huge influence of mine. I also dig kjg obviously, Karl kopinski and Katsuya terada.
>>2931486
fuck him for being so good
Artists: Matt rhodes,Glen Keane,Claire Hummel,Gustav Klimt
Influences in general: 60s lifestyle illustrations, hanna barbera,Ghost in the shell (the original movie),Street Fighter 2 (the oldschool animated movies), WW2 propaganda posters, ect.
>>2931516
also yoji shinkawa
James Jean. The guy is an incredibly skilled draftsman and creative as all hell to boot. I love how he draws upon and incorporates a variety of sources in his work ranging from Medieval art to pop art. I take a lot of inspiration from the flowing quality of his linework.
>>2931537
I always knew him as "the guy who did the fables covers"
Yeah good shit
>>2931469
basquiat, not because i like his paintings so much, they're alright, but because it's funny how tragic his life was, when it could have been great had he not got mixed up with shitty white people.
>>2931547
>heroin addict
Yeah curse those mean whities
Sargent or Leyendecker
Kopinski
El Greco
El Greco
>>2931559
uniformed white guy on internet, so surprising. perhaps if i'd written jews instead of white people you'd be on-board, eh?
>>2931587
I'd say kopinski is Kim jung gi tier. Really love his work
>>2931469
This might be super weird... but I really really really love the way Hampton does humans. He actually ended up my main inspiration and my favourite artist...
While not necessarily my all time favorite artist, Alex ahad was a big inspiration to me when I first started drawing and I still think his art is really appealing.
>>2931469
>Favorite Artist?
Hyung Tae Kim
>biggest influence?
Kazuto Nakazawa.

I don't get the love for Sinix either, to be honest. Not hating on his skill, but his stylization isn't appealing to me and seeing his work for the first time after hearing d/ic/ks cumming over his work set my expectations high for his work.
He's really good (pro level, obviously), but his work seems... attainable? As in, I could reach that level one day, versus KJG or Sargent or etc. Is that why he's an inspiration for so many people?
I'm not trying to hate on him or people who like him. I just feel like an aspie because I don't get it.
Chase Stone. Really dig his stuff.
>>2931793
Seems reasonable. Same thing with shitty "manga anatomy" tutorials on deviantart that always seem to be super popular I guess.
>>2931785
>>2931793
I personally like some elements of his stylization. His faces always end up looking kinda wonky and elfy but I really like how he draws such organic things with such blocky lines. His implementation of graphical elements into his art is also something I like about him.
I agree with you that he isn't even close to the greats like kjg and I think an element of my admiration for him is probably because his skill seems achievable. There's kinda different tiers of inspiration for me, like I look up to some people on /ic/, low level pros, people like sinix, and then the greats as well. You don't have to be the most skilled artist ever to inspire people imo.
>>2931804
>>2931828
Thanks for making the situation more understandable for my autistic brain, guys!
To the second anon, I totally get the different tiers of inspiration, but it was the amount of praise he got and being lumped in with art deities that took me off guard.
I have a lot of intermediate artists I look up to (who influence me more career and output-wise, than technique like Sargent or other masters), so I hope no one takes my posts as shitting on people for not jacking off to solely Zorns or Krenz.
>>2931616
same man
>>2931469
Probably Darick Robertson. Not that he's the greatest artist in the world, but Transmet truly blew my mind when I first read it.
Other very worthy mentions:
Katsuhiro ÅŒtomo
Don Rosa
Bear in mind that I first heard of KJG only about 2 years ago.
>>2931828
Sinix isn't a "low level" pro though. Most professionals aren't fucking KIM JUNG GI tier. Sinix is middle tier professional along with sycra.
>>2932254
Sorry if I worded it wrong. I meant to imply that sinix is a mid to high level pro. That's why I put his name after low level pros. I agree with you.
>>2931469
rogner5th in terms of technical skill, i love her work!
really good colours, texture work and edge control.
>>2932262
Why don't you think KJG isn't achievable?
'eyo, sinix here
That's nice of you, OP, but man.. I always feel dumb when people talk about my art being an inspiration.
I'm such a fanboy of so many better artists, that I always have that gut reaction of "don't aim for me when I'm aiming at a ton of better people" , but I'm happy to provide some fun and hopefully infectious passion for art.
Back on topic, I'm really into tan zhi hui at the moment: https://www.artstation.com/artist/kudaman
Along with piotr jablonski and sergey kolesov: https://www.artstation.com/artist/nicponim
And always fightpunch: https://www.artstation.com/artist/fightpunch
If you're not constantly changing your biggest inspiration, you'll be missing out.
>>2932286
some of her recent concepts.
>>2932289
Why the fuck would sinix be on 4chan? Prove you're sinix, share a screenshot of you logged on patreon or DA
>>2932293
how about twitter, friend
because this is the most raw place to hear nonsense about the art world/community. I grew up on boards like eatpoo. We don't have cool shit like that anymore, so I just check here for the latest art gossip.
aka, i'm dumb
oh, and i like to shitpost about sycra (ok, not really, he's a good guy)
>>2932308
Sinix, how's the illustration industry these days
>>2932289
I'm not a big fan of some of your stylistic choices, but I respect your dedication, skill, and attitude immensely. Overall, you're a pretty cool guy.
>>If you're not constantly changing your biggest inspiration, you'll be missing out.
This really gets me, though, since I always feel like I'm lost in what I intend to with art since I have a wide array of inspirations and find new ones in what feels like every day. But I like your outlook on it.
>>2932308
>>2932318
I want all fanboys and whatever fucking normies that followed this faggot here to leave.
>>2932293
Not hard believing that sinix browses /ic/ from time to time. I bet he wishes he could post art too, but since his style is instantly recognizable. He can't.
really dig https://www.artstation.com/artist/mandra
>>2932308
Sinix, do you think you would ever do more in depth videos about design theory? Dissecting games/films/fashion etc and discussing what you find appealing and maybe using that stuff to make something. Or maybe you can open it up to your viewers and have them submit from the things that they find appealing.
appreciate the content sir.
I don't have "a" favourite but Peleng is on my list

Loool, it's surprising because I see threads about you every now and then or someone pretending to be you so naturally I assumed they were fake.

>>2931605
Nope. He isn't
>>2932254
>Sycra
NOO
>>2932254
sinix is many MANY levels above sycra. dont fucking put them on the same stage, idiot. sycra can stay with fucking draw with jizza and hack brown.
>>2931595
maybe you could have left out their race entirely instead ? instead of implying whites are destructive people and then antisemites too. Moron.
hard to favorite a single artist, I'd say that manga is the biggest influence and what I'm aiming for as far as style goes. My goal when I draw is for my lines to be clear, easy to read, expressive and ideally to convey a story. Even if I love more intricate stuff like Franklin Booth, it's not what I'm after
>>2932289
sinix actually on the 4chans
do you come here often or is this an exception because people were talking about you? either way your presence balances out at least 10 shitposters so pls stay
>>2931486
I have sick boner right now
>>2932488
I'm pretty sure he drops by every now and then. If you watch his streams he drops autistic meme references every now and then.
>>2931486
Is that Lenin in the back ?
Joseph Beuys
>>2932709
Reminder that dadaist art and anything that came after it trying to emulate it is shit.
>>2931469
Sushio character designer from Studio Trigger and Gainax for sure. I just love the way he draws figures and faces.
shinkawa is my god
>>2931469
it was a toss up between sargent and brangwyn, but someone already said sargent so i'll go with this guy. the way he produced scenes, color harmonies, painterly strokes, everything was amazing. also he taught cornwell and influenced saturnino herran, which is a great plus
i love how this thread is just people fawning over their favorite artists, bretty gud thread
>>2931469
oh also bjorklund for colors, edges, shapes, abstractions.
>>2932754
How...interesting.
>>2932484
>whitey gets mad
>>2931595
Lol like I'd take anything you'd say seriously. Your favorite artist is a photorealist. How do you enjoy the taste of shit, because that's what you are, facebook bottomfeeder
>>2932308
i think youre a good person sinixxx
I have too many i enjoy from every century but I always find myself looking at the pre raphaelites. They have such a beautiful style, mixing between the romantic ideals of medieval times and a gritty realism.
I just recently was looking over this painting. It's hard not to love everything about it.
>>2932906
basquiat is not a photorealist
Hiroaki Samura, Kim Jung gi, Katsuya terada, otomo katsuhito, James herren, James jean, boichi, John Paul Leon, Alex maleev, range murata, the guy who drew batman year one, the shin megami tensei character designer, the studio trigger guy... list goes on and on. I pulled a bit from each of them . But my main three are Samura, boichi, and murata.
>>2932906
...
Here's an example of Basquiat's work
>>2932906
>Lol like I'd take anything you'd say seriously. >Your favorite artist is a photorealist.
>photorealist.
>seriously.
>mfw retard thought that >>2931547 was a drawing
>>2932338
I really like this guys style, but I wonder how many of his paintings are just photo studies.
I'm a great fan of chien chung wei's watercolor works. absolutely magnificent
>>2933558
a lot of it is color picking, photobashing, and studies
Can't not be Nox. He's my favorite since forever. Dat round brush.
>>2932906
>Basquiat
>A Photorealist
Inb4: I'm not that Anon and I don't care about your race shit.
I think I have a favorite artist for every part of a picture, I love Rembrandt for his lighting, I love Bouguerau for his colors, Beksinski for his creepy atmosfere, Junji Ito for his lines, etc, etc.
But If I had yo choose one that was the closest to what I want to achieve, I would have to choose Keith Thompson. His conceps are just too good, I love how diverse his ideas are but they stop just before being alien. He also seems to have a great understanding of history and machinery, so his concepts are very believable
>>2932289
time to browse /ic/ but not to stream?
>>2932286
whoa
I love Shinkawa. For my personal taste, he's the best blend between style, contour and anatomy
>>2934347
Another favourite
For me it is the McChicken. The best fast food sandwich.
>>2931797
>Chase Stone
This guy is a legit modern master.
His artworks make me speechless, specially those he did for Khans of Tarkir (MtG)
>>2934383
What is a "modern master"?
I really like Roger Dean. His landscapes and backgrounds are fantastic and the guy is pretty good at stuff outside that. Great colors.
>>2934043
Shame he abandoned his site years ago.
>>2931469
> Favorite Artist
I don't think I could ever pick an artist to be my absolute favorite, theres to many for me to pick. But there are some artists who I do hold a special place in my heart.
1. Mark Ryden - Pushed me more into surrealism and developing more of a realistic style. Plus, I love how he draws his girls/women.
2. Naoko Takeuchi and Akira Toriyama - My childhood right here. They actually inspired me to get into drawing/art. They were also my first gateway to discovering anime before the internet.
> Biggest influence when it comes to style.
Shit, I take a lot of inspiration from many different art styles, but the one style I frequently fall back to is the semi real anime style. Like, the kind you would see back in the 80s/90s. I love the hyper detail they would do back then (pic related).
>>2934437
this
omg SINEX!
the fuck is he?
>>2931469
mucha, particularly his drawings, particularly his drawings of things that aren't pretty women
>>2931469
Sinix is good but personally I'm all sinixed out after a decade of his stuff. Also I'm not the biggest fan of his current lets render everything very painterly and semirealistic -approach
>>2931469
gauguin
loomis
This guy is so versatile it's not funny anymore.
Rodin
No idea
>>2931469
monet
>>2934737
I saw this one IRL and holy fuck
>>2934752
Do tell me about your experience, anon.
Right now it's Ryoko Kui
I don't even know why i'm attracted to her stuffs. To be fair her lineworks are pretty crappy, but there's *something* about it that makes it look endearing
>>2934753
It was amazing, the texture he achieved in the water was shocking. I stood in front of that for some good 15-20 minutes.
Also there was one of his more abstract bridges, absolutely insane too. You could almost see him doing his impasto.
>>2931469
yoshitoshi aBe
>>2931900
Sinix got big inspiration points I think because of the he got reasonably good in a short amount of time. He started out doing horrendous anime and Jhonen Vasquez stuff, so seeing him come out of that in about 8 months is pretty encouraging to a lot of people.
>>2932308
Sinix how do I get good at art even though I want to kill myself every time I try and draw something.
>>2931562
While I can't find anything definitive I wouldn't be in the least bit surprised that the reason you mention both Sargent and Leyendecker is that in some fashion Sargent was certainly an influence on Leyendecker.
Absolutely gorgeous. I'm always on the lookout for seeing influences of fantastic artists.
Personally I enjoy the work of Frank Frazetta, Milt Kahl, Erich Sokol, Bill Tupper, Budd Root, and a plethora of others. Many of which I can't name right now but their art is unbelievable.
>>2934803
why the fuck are so many japanese artists good at layouts
>>2933562
Nice, thanks for showing me this guy. Always love find good watercolor artists.
His stuff reminds me of joseph zbukvic and russell flint.
I honestly have a lot of artist that are a big inspiration to me. Wesley Burt, Karla Ortiz, Even Mehl Amundsen, to name a few. However, someone I always come back to is Rien Poortvliet, he was a Dutch illustrator and dear god he could draw. I owned his Horses book as a child and back then i spent many evenings crudely copying the drawings of it. I got decent at drawing horses through it I suppose and somehow retained that knowledge. I wish I could've met him, sadly he passed away in 1995 or something. He described himself as a drawing storyteller and published some books with his drawings and paintings on varying subjects, lots of animals. I own almost all of them, working on getting the ones I'm missing. Pic related.
>>2935776
One more. I'm on my phone so poating whats on the net, which, sadly, isnt much or high res. I can see about scanning a few pages of his books within a few days if there is any interest.
Sycra and Proko, both are great.
>>2935786

>>2931587
I used to draw in similar style in high school, ofcourse my art was shit compared to his but hinking that I could draw like this if I wouldn't stop practicing drives me mad
