wip I've been working on. I photobashed together some reference pics (girl with plants etc) & now I'm grid & colour picking it as a study, but try to keep a loose feeling. C & C looked for & welcomed!
I'm going to paint more hair detail & then start painting some of the plants in more detail.
Here's where I started.

& this is the photobashed ref pic. Any advice on how I might tackle her hair? I always fuck it up.

I'm about a million miles from being able to eyeball colour. I'm trying to break away from the grid though, but I always seem to get pulled back into it.

Being a million miles from being able to eyeball color means you absolutely shouldnt color pick, that's how you stay a million miles away from being able to eyeball it and never improve.
Same with using grids. Neither of those things help you and exercises like this will end up as a waste of time overall.

A fair point.
Colour I'm a bit less concerned with at the mo, I need to go back to basics on that, which I will do.
I've been gesture drawing a fuck load & just about started to make something from imagination, so concentrated more on that. When I get onto painting I just want to skip to the fun bit & the grid is. Right. There. I aways start off with something only a little more than thirds, & promise myslef that'll be it, but by the end I've got it tiny & zoomed in TT
