So I am trying to learn how to draw, I want to come into my own style but ultimately I am interested in drawing stylistically like Taiyo Matsumoto. I know a lot of people on here recommend realistic drawing books, do you think this sort of stuff would apply still for someone like me that ultimately isn't interested in realism. Additionally, are there any other possible books that could help me come into creating work that is I suppose, cartoony?
See the thing is that cartoons are mostly based on realism. Real proportion, real anatomy, real physics and gravity. In order to exaggerate and stylize these things requires a good foundation in realism.
It isn't the only way to do it, though. You can figure out your own path towards what YOU want to do. If you want to focus on cartoons, study who you consider masters of cartoons. Just realize that most of them are probably able to draw a very realistic figure from reference. Not all, but most.

idk much about the manga but the tekkon kinkreet artwork for the movie is grounded in realism. it mostly uses a lot of epic perspective changes so yeah that's all part of learning fundementals
