who here has a delusional meme project or IP that they're willing to go full autism/ make a pact with satan for?
>>
>>2900966
I've been considering making a VN entirely by myself if that counts. Don't really have the free time right now though.

Also I'm a hobbyist, I want to git gud but just so I can draw things I'm satisfied with. No professional art plans.

Almost no competition. Feels comfy man.
>>
>>2900966
it's not that delusional but I often have ideas of animations and webcomics
>>
>>2900966
I want to start making a living with commissions and shit and then make comics. I'm quite ambitious, I really want to make a masterpiece, something original, something worth discussing, something that is more than mere entertainment for horn lonely teenager (which is majority of actual comics and manga).

You want to own a game studio?

You will need good programmers and a good "business" guy. You can do the rest.

Programming is a big field
>>
I just want to make frame by frame animation on YouTube. I have a lot of ideas, made script already. I just need to draw on at least comics level. Not anime style, I want to make decent believable picture. (Sorry for my bad English)
>>
>>2901472
I don't care about making a "masterpiece" but I'd really like to make a comic that's somewhat out of the box. I used to want to make something "famous" and "inspiring" but now the only one I want to inspire is myself.
>>
>>2901457
enjoy your generic bullshit kekmao
>>
>>2901704
I will
I'll also be enjoying all my experience and putting it into my own artwork

I'm just dicking around, I work in the industry. I spent the last four years drawing sci fi boxes, doors, and grenades for CCP and Horizon.

If you want to do creative shit, freelance is better because you constantly have to learn new and unrelated things for clients.
Studio jobs teach you how to only make samey bullshit. there's nothing really wrong with that, it's just that you have to make an extra effort.
Eventually industry jobs become echo chambers for generic unimaginative ideas.
>"we want innovation. something that sets us apart from the others"
>"how about a sci fi girl posing"
>"what a strong female character, great idea!"

My advice is to get out of the industry as soon as you can work freelance. Studio jobs teach you how to do the work, but freelance really pushes you to new heights.
>>
>>2901730
But you won't be drawing doors and grenades all your life, right?

4 years? Maybe in a year you'll draw something more juicy?

Also working in the industry gives you more security compared to freelance, and with industry you can become an art director. Plus, you get to tell people
" yeah, I work for 'amazing company' but I can't tell you what new amazing movie/ game we're doing. Pshhh. Tough luck, kid"

>Eventually industry jobs become echo chambers for generic unimaginative ideas.

Why don't you come up with a real innovative idea?
>>
Once I reach Mastery i'll shoot myself in the face with a shotgun in-front my my wife and children, probably on a birthday or Christmas.
>>
>>2901925
>Why don't you come up with a real innovative idea?
Believe me I'd love to. Everyone would. It's just a money thing same as Hollywood. If it doesn't fit the established vision of the echo chamber it's no-go.

Eventually when you work up the ladder you get to do characters and stuff but even still, when the whole subject is generic bullshit, It's really more of the same up until you get to Senior, or Lead,
Only then, you get to design the stuff the players will notice (Characters, NPC's, Weapons, etc.)... but it still conforms to the vision of the AD and not the game.
God forbid your AD is some Artstation junkie. A lot of the time if you work for an AAA studio your AD has to deal with some shitty corporate ideas guy, and the project is doomed to fail straight from the get go.

I don't believe it's a shitty profession or anything though. it's just bittersweet. If you want to be God-tier, Studio work will definitely show you the path, but freelance will force it out of you.
>>
>>2902031
Thanks for that, kinda makes me think twice about industry. Sometimes the projects can be fun tho. Lot of people on conceptart.org say they adore their job as a concept artist. Like you said, it's just bittersweet I guess.

It doesn't have to be Marvel. But Marvel was the childhood dream.
And if I ever get to draw a issue of Daredevil, I can die happy.
>>
>>2901457
lol, your competition is going to be coming from the third world. Except it will be less about skill level and more about brown level. Don't you worry.
>>
>>2903921
Third world doesn't like art because it doesn't make enough money to feed their 30 children. And I bet wacom tablets aren't even sld there
>>
>>2903939
But the art world does like those 30 children since they'll do the same shit you would but for 10x less.

Poor people will be the end of all of us.
