Just found out that my local art shop will be closing because the guy who runs it will be retiring.
What a shame, I always made a point to go there to buy my supplies, since it is worth supporting the place where you can actually go there to see the colours and brushes and inspect the canvases before you buy them. Anyone else here have experience of your local art shop closing? Is moving to buying stuff online any better?

> Local shop four years ago
> Decent town with high tourist traction in the summers, otherwise pretty dead 3/4th of the year
> Couldn't shit about art, but wanted to learn
> Helpful assistant shows me around pencils, grams of paper, inking etc.
> Nice service and picked up some supplies, and to top it off saying good luck and study hard
> Shut down last year due to low interest
Where the fuck do people like those do next?

That's a shame, I always love the atmosphere of an art shop, particularly ones run by people who know what they are talking about.
When my local one shuts that will be the end of a good supply of Winsor and Newton Artists Oil Colour, I'll have to order online now, which isn't so great since when you want to try a new colour it's helpful to actually see it in person, same with brushes.
