You don't need to be exceptional to be popular, but you do need to be at least ok in a few different things. This person with 100k subs may not be the best artist, but they combined their artistic skill with apparently some persistence and some knowledge of social media to grow their channel. It's the right mix, even if not everything in it is exactly the best.

The one thing I fear more than sucking at art and everyone getting better than me is waking up one day NOT having that slight fear of not being good enough. I've seen so many artist that have sort of made it that fall into the reddit hugbox trap and their work is kind of regressing over the years
