You should paly around with the liquify tool if you haven't. Very powerful tool.

Some times I use it as a starting point for overpaints.

It takes like 15 mins to get something workable.
Just stick a bunch of images together, push the pixels around, add surface blur and you're done.

Obviously you should put a bit more effort and kind of make it look like've you painted it otherwise
people get mad.
