drawing 1:1 is easy to learn/teach/useless in todays world. Realism from imagination is impressive though.

Watch art school confidential. It's a good movie and the easiest way I can explain it.
You got the main character who's very good technically but his work is very stiff and lifeless. You have his classmates who might as well be smearing turds on a canvas, and you got the guy at the end.
So basically I think if your art is boring then no technical skill is going to make me care about it. That's about it.
