Anyone done these?
The 10/1/10 challenge.
You draw an image three times, each time with decreasing time limits.
10 minutes for your first.
1 minute for the second.
10 seconds for the third.
You get it.
So 11 minutes, 10 seconds, you can spare that, right?
Ill start.
(Im a lefty, so I went from right to left to avoid smudging too much)
Heres another, to bump. Soz for orientation, on mobile.

Whats the point, you cant make anything good with 10 seconds. Hell, I'd say 1 minute is useless too, it may be only cool for really experienced artist who got faster naturally.

>Whats the point, you cant make anything good with 10 seconds.
Not OP, but that's not exactly the goal. It's an exercise, it forces you to prioritize what's absolutely necessary to capture your subject.
It's useful practice for if you're drawing a subject that might not be in the same place/pose 10 seconds later (like, say, an animal).
>>2822635
what if u kill the animal first
>>2822620
It's to break down the design and optimize it/get something new. It helps with you seeing your own decision making.
Originally Jake Parker made it and it was 4m:2m:1m:30s:15s:5s

So compared to your 1 minute you spend 9 minutes petting your lines?
Work
On
That

this guy did 2 cool ones.
Batman: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b2b9pQmUB-k
and Hulk: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HCSBtry4mx0
Hulk didn't turn out so well but I think he did a pretty good job on batman.

You ever heard of gesture drawing?
Did another one, no reference this time.
(Also i fixed the orientation (maybe))
Went a little overboard on dat shading doe lol
>>2823545
what kind of white gel pen is that? i'd kill for one that effective
>>2823617
What are the point of these exercises?
If drawing from life I can see the usefulness, but imagination?
>>2823849
It's just a fun challenge mane. There's nothing else to it
>>2822573
looks good so far, keep going, i am slow though, you 1 minute one would take me like 10 minutes or more
>>2823849
Draw a kangaroo
>>2823553
You'll never get "gooder" if you're lazy even to resize a picture on your phone.
Pretty fun challenge.
I'm a bit sceptical if the 1 min is not 2 min, though. I didn't set a timer and quickly forgot which minute I started at.
>>2827857
literally no point to this
not even fun
>>2827862
literally no point to drawing

It's the uniball signo broad.
>>2823567
gesture drawing is a meme because you draw some shitty nonsense just to be fast. Even if slow its still worthless
>>2827922
>it's inherently pointless because I'm blind to the point of it
>>2827932
tell me the point of it, because i wasted waaay too much time on that shit. Id rather do bargue drawings that actually make me better than some shitty lines that may resemble a subject.
>>2827922
You sound like Jeremy Clarkson explaining why paddle shifters are shit.
But, aight. I'll bite.
The purpose of figure drawing is mainly learning how to see and eye-hand coordination.
Knowing how to observe objects are IMO the most important thing when it comes to drawing. If you don't know how to properly look at something you'll never be able to properly draw it. This includes measuring the subject, understanding the basic building blocks and lines of the subject, and understanding balance, movement and weight of the thing you draw, only by looking at it.
And how are you supposed to be able to draw if your hands don't move in the way your eyes tell them to? That's why you have these 10-30 seconds drawings. With these you're hardly supposed to look at the paper at all, but use the time you have to study the subject and let the hand copy what you see.
Gesture drawing is supposed to be with a live model, though. If you are talking about quickposes, or similar 2D gesture drawing, it's a completely different thing and should honestly be avoided if you're a beginner.

>gesture drawing is a meme because you draw some shitty nonsense just to be fast. Even if slow its still worthless
Everything is worthless given enough time. They don't call them fundies cause they're fun.
>Guy posts work and wants other to join for fun challenge
>everyone just shits on him and calls the challenge pointless and a waste of time
>thread devolves into shitposting and arguing about some other unrelated topic
Typical /ic/.
>>2828043
dont like it? leave, there are plenty of forums out there, fucking crybabies

>They don't call them fundies cause they're fun.
Of course they do! Can't spell fundamentals without fun!

>>2828050
walked into that one.
>>2828048
you're the reason this place is shit you fucking moron
