Loomis is just like Bouguereau , cool in the context of his time, but after modern art, his art lacks substance.

Not very many people here progress beyond drawing a figure floating in a void (if they even finish the entire figure). So it is not surprising that composition doesn't get talked about much here.

There also seems to be a faction that is violently opposed to the ideas of leading lines and such. Again, they probably just haven't started putting any thought into composition yet. Too focused on anatomy and rendering glistening jizz dripping off of furry ladyboy cock.

There are a lot of other good stuff in creative illustration, but I've yet to hear about ANYONE ever using "informal subdivision" as a technique. But by all means, please show us your masterful compositions you've made with informal subdivisions.

It is just a way to break you out of doing the same shit you always do, anon. A way to get a thumbnail started. It is the same as drawing random scribbles and then trying to make sense of them. Or bashing black and white shapes together in photoshop, creating mini abstract pieces to use as a basis.

Though with informal division you are more likely to get leading lines, diagonals, triangles, and asymmetry than with the common technique of breaking your picture plane into thirds.

It's just abstraction/graphic design bro.
