I'm thinking about pre-ordering this and using it in lieu of a tablet, but I feel like it might be too good to be true. What do you guys think?

It's overpriced. Just buy a microwaveable notebook and some frixion pens

But what excites me is that it's basically a tablet. I take a snapshot of my page and it digitizes it.

>"Generally users can expect 5-10 reuses." - Kickstarter
>Costs $27.00
>Requires microwave worth $20 - $100+
>Wide tip pen will make it harder to draw fine lines.
Get a tablet. It will last longer and is better.

Let me show the exact sentence to you again,
"Although the book will “work” indefinitely, much like other reusable items the number of reuses you will get depends on a number of factors. These include your note density, pen type, pen pressure, typical lighting and a general tolerance of ghosts. Generally users can expect 5-10 reuses."

So basically, you're paying for the app. 5-10 uses and every time afterwards you'll have to pay another 30 bucks +pens. Doesn't seem worth

You mean like a scanner app?
which are free,
and have been around for years

a mobile camera isnt gonna do a better job at scanning than a scanner.
just get a Lenovo Yoga Book

I don't mean to sound like a smartass, but why not get an actual scanner?
I have a CanoScan Lide 120 that's cheap and it works like a charm, and it costs like 60$. From what I understand you can only use black pens on that book, and a scanner will get black lines perfectly at 1200 DPI. The only difference you get with a more expensive scanner is with color, but I scan watercolor with mine and it's pretty high fidelity.

Tons of people I know use their phones for scanning. This is just a distraction for you to procrastinate actually doing art.
If you draw well, any scanning will do (including mobile phones). Stop procrastinating and do some art, today.
