Do you feel sometimes, when you're studying, that you're trying to pull something with your hands when there's a motherfucking lever out there?
I mean, don't get me wrong, but here am I studying color, shading my spheres when I cross many artists that somehow "hack" colors.
I'm studying reality when the abstraction is so more appealing...
I don't have this illustration thing inside me. I'm not talking about portraits with all the color spectrum and highlights and hair that turns into colorful water. I'm talking about I don't know... I would never be this guy.
>that you're trying to pull something with your hands when there's a motherfucking lever out there?
Pull the lever anon, it's okay.

you need a break buddy
The lever is not real, anon. It's imaginary. In reality, it's the strength of your hands having grown through constant usage.
I think I understand what you're saying.
There's nothing wrong with being an abstract artist. Don't force yourself to be something you're not.
But that doesn't mean you should totally abandon drawing and rendering realistically. Artists are much more respected if they can pull an abstract design AND render out a person from imagination.
Take a look at Graphic LA by Robh Ruppel. He explains in the book about taking reality and designing the observed shapes into an appealing composition. It's the idea that you don't completely abandon reality when it comes to abstract art, but rather become inspired by the shapes and patterns that arise from it.
Pic related might help.
The abstraction of shadow shapes is also really effective at portayimg reality.
Hopefully this helps you.
Do what makes you happy, but having a skill in realist drawing and painting will only make you that much more respected. You don't have to do illustration per se, they can be vignetted realistic representations of objects in space...aka still lives, figure drawing, observational drawing, etc.

explain that image please, I never understand it.

I think it just means to begin your art with a simpler abstraction before progressing into smaller, more accurate details.
Basically what we already know, but written in Engrish.

The least amount of detail needed to express something is often better than rendering from construction.Throw down the basic shapes and value and paint detail into it instead of starting off with constructed draftsmanship and working value over it.

Shh...Just stop trying to pull the lever and instead pull the trigger, all the pain will go away....
