Serious opinions/suggestions, please.

So I am purchasing my first tablet. I am new to digital art and I would like to know if this is a good buy or could I do better.

http://www.staples.com/Wacom-Intuos-Draw-CTL490DW-8-25-by-6-7-Inches-Creative-Pen-Tablet-Windows-or-Mac-White/product_1693937?externalize=certona

I am also confused about the size. Is this a small tablet or medium? Am I missing something? What would you recommend in this price range? I don't really have much more to spend on it. Is Wacom the way to go or am I making a mistake?

I've also seen Intuos Draw small for arond 60-70 and Intuos Pen and Touch small for $60.

says that it comes with drawpack which includes artrage software?

Don't buy that piece of garbage or you'll regret it.

Save up another $50 and get the Huion Giano ffs

The drawthread on b suggested Wacom over Huion. What is the deal with Monoprice?

The giano us quite nice for the price. Wait until you find one under 140 though. No point in spending more than you have to.

How good does my computer has to be for a tablet? I have a laptop and am not sure how well can it handle it.

i own one of these and i can tell you theyre pretty bad. you are actually better off with a bamboo fun. the calibration is much more accurate.

also i would refrain from wacom knock offs like a huion
>>

you do realize 1024 pressure levels is just a meme right

I'm running a thinkpad from 2008 and it's fine. If your mouse lags, your tablet will lag, so it's more of a situational thing from having too much shit open and photoshop being bloated.

It's $70, you can buy your own drawing software that's better than what they bundle and still come out ahead. Or just, you know, not pay for it.
>>
>>2767369
The question you really want to ask is "How good does my computer have to be for a drawing program?"

The answer to that is look up the specs for the programs though. There are a lot of good free ones out there and some nice cheap ones. Sketchbook Pro is awesome and last I checked it was like $60.
>>

Yes! I've had one for over 3 years now and I still love it.
