What would one need to know to create custom brushes for photoshop/gimp that would replicate the brushes Bob uses in his show?

Someone probably made them already, look up brushes that emulate traditional, also, take a good photograph and try to do a painted version of that, will teach you more than i'm willing to fit in a message
