If you want to draw, you'll draw. Plain and simple.

Second, that exercise is meant to show you that drawing what you see, the first step, is more possible than you think. It isn't supposed to be a 1:1 copy. It's as close as you can approximate, yes, but it's really supposed to be like, "See? You actually can do it, but you just don't know how yet. These books will show you."

If you did the exercise the other way around and drew how you thought you should be drawing, it would look like shit and you would have had the added benefit of not having learned anything.

The picture isn't something you pass or fail. Your reaction to it is. You're supposed to be like, "Oh, shit, so if I just listen and learn then I could actually do this."

So get back to the sticky.
