Can you become a full fledged pro just by learning at home? Do you know any people who "made it" without any schools?

Take any professional under the age of 30, and probably there is like a 50ish percent chance they are self taught.
I know Wojtek Fus is self taught but he's a filthy photobashing plagiarizer.
An artist who is willing to learn and especially work very hard and put their time in can do practically anything they would like without schooling.
What actually counts is if you are that kind of person.

Unfortunately the old images in his concepart.org sketchbook are gone which would have shown it very clearly, but his deviantart account does have some images going back nearly a decade, so you can get a rough idea of his skill level on a year by year basis.

artgerm and even Zdzisław Beksiński were selftaught. With an exception that beksiński was actually instruced at some point by turkowski but he sucks ass so it doesn't count
the majority of working artists are not institutionally educated as artists

Why does he push back the mandible of his skulls?
I always see gaping blackness where jaw bone should be.
Is this a stylistic choice?

>Zdzisław Beksiński self-taught
Wrong. His mother painted watercolors, he studied architecture and graduated as an architect, had a job as industrial designer for bus company, was a photographer (this is a start of his art career) and when he finally started to paint he had other artist as a mentor (Tadeusz Turkowski). He was also a member of artistic groups (including photography).
I don't understand this meme that "I can git gut by sitting at home and being unemployed, uneducated and mentally ill" kind of deal. ALL painters that I can think of had artistic education of some kind, the least that they did was having a full architecture degree.
P.S. That's also why I have given up on becoming respected artist in my lifetime.

Bruce Timm is self-taught.
A good mentor can do wonders for you.
But schools themselves are generally a scam.

My mother is a good doctor, that doesnt mean i can perform surgery you faggot.

He was working professionally for MTG, Blizzard and other big companies, so yeah, he was pretty good. Not nearly as good as he is today, but good enough to be a professional, which is probably what OP means when he says "made it".

We aren't talking about some faggot fine art painters, we're talking about self-taught commercial artists, of which there are hundreds if not thousands.
>>2748829
Yeah. me lmao. I taught myself and I've done freelance gigs for various studios.
If you're good, you get the jobs.
Good as in not drawing furries.
